Getting back to appalling weather...
This pillock 'ere left his sunroof open on his car last night during a torrential downpour.
Again.
I had a *puddle* on the floor of the car last night, a good centimetre deep. . Arse.

I am in the far south west of Cornwall and we have had quite a few problems in the last 24 hours. Many houses were without electricity for a time. Trees have blown down across the road between us and Penzance. They have now been cleared. The rain was the kind of stair rods that tip straight down which was weird because the wind was blowing a hooley. It was the wind which we call a lazy wind as it seems to go through you rather than around. I can see the Longships light house from my window and the waves were breaking over the top of it. However this evening the rain stopped the wind dropped and the sun came out, we now have a clear sky with only a few fluffs of cloud in it. A yacht had to be towed into Falmouth last night, it signalled it needed help when it was about four miles off the Scilly Isles. Two people on board who were stupid to have set sail in the light of the storm warnings given out two days ago. Since I wrote in my journal I have been out into the garden and the damge to plants is minimal. I have lost my rose arch as I said and a couple of pots haveblown over and the plants damaged a bit.

How tall is the lighthouse?

The Longships lighthouse is about 45 metres high. it is unmanned now I think it went automatic about 30 years ago. the sea washing over it is not all that unusual especially in the winter. Less usual in the summer of course

Them's still tall waves.
I'm still waiting for AZ's first monsoon of the season and I'm told they're very impressive, but the storms in the UK sound like they were scary.
A couple of brit corespondants are telling me they lost plants and a roof tile or two. Strong stuff.
