I don't really know the origins of the expression. But "to have a stick in the ear" (in Danish "at have en pind i øret") means to be drunk.
You can vary the expression if you want to indicate the degree of intoxication. Ie "to have a log in the ear" (quite bad!) or, worse, "a telephone pole in the ear" (
= 
the next day)...

Hmmm... sorry, I don't think I can - even though I have 
powers, they are somewhat limited - I guess it's the amount of alcohol that puts a limit...

I've noticed my powers diminishing when too much alcohol is involved. However, for me it's such powers as balance and speech.
