h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

One of the best things about the Simpsons is the huge range of settings and background that makes Springfield so interesting. Duff beer, for example, has almost made it into reality (someone apparently tried to make such a brew until the copyright lawyers caught up with them).

You can almost believe in such things as the Springfield Tyre Dump ("On fire since ???" I forget the exact year), the Nuclear Plant, the Monorail etc...

There is also the pisstakes of loads of different films, and of course the hallucinagenic episodes (who can forget the Guatamalan Insanity Peppers In Your Face Space Coyote!

Marge!! Less artsy more fartsy.

Homer: Sheesh, relax. Go have a cigarette or something.
Marge: You know, I could.

Hey, I was just thinking that! (not a quote)

Marge:"Homer said he wasn't going to drink today."
Hellen:"It's nice he told you that."

"I knew that you'd head west, 'cuz the town slopes down in that direction. I also knew that you're atracted to blinking lights."

"Like on the waffle iron..."

"Yeah..."

That scene puts Homer's and Marge's relationship in such a perfect light. That's one of my faves, too.

"Hey, mister. Don't drink that. That's a candle. You don't want wax in your mouth, do you?"

"Maybe I do. Maybe I do..."

"Either that's Dad, or Batman's really let himself go!"

"Look everyone! Hot pants!"

I don't have any witty quotes to add... I'm just glad that I'm not alone in believing that that was the finest animated episode ever produced.

Ay Carumba! Hey, got me thinking about those wonderful psychedelic froggers... Gotta get my hands on one of those...

that was definately the best episode they have ever done. i'm glad so many people agree.
