Of course, you have fully described the spoon and its awesome functionality, but i feel it could be placed on the list of most useful things on earth. Because its just so handy.

I would agree. When trapped in a desert and you only have one thing, what would it be? a spoon of course. It is one of man's most versitile creations ever.

I'd rather be trapped in a dessert with a spoon.

OK, so call me stupid, but if spoons are the second most useful item on Earth, what's the first?
Or should I know this already?
Just in case the space is open, I'd like to vote for the toenail cutter. Very useful.

but you could sow a toe nail clipper into a towel, and enhance its usefulness.

im sure if you swiftly ran a towel over your toenails, you could slowly wear them down... most likey, your toenail would grow faster than you could "file" down your toenail... and stuck in the desert, im sure you have plenty of time to devise more ways to cut your toenails with a towel

virtually anything could be the #1 most useful item as long as time extends long enough for uses to be developed for it and uses to be exhausted for every other item in existence.... just a 2nd thought...

Of course, if the desert that one was in was a desert with sand or any other small abrasive material, one could put some of the abrasive into the fabric of the towel. This would make the erosion of the toenails more efficient using the towel. I think that they could be shortened, even taking into account the growth rate.

gymnists would be prime candidates... they would only have to overcome whatever convictions they have with biting their own toenails. goog idea
