Lucky, lucky GB, that she can still go outside even when an old biddy like me would freeze to death within a couple of minutes. !!

Keep at it girl... there will come a day sadly when it really will be too cold....... I do not think that I ever wasted an opportunity to look at the African sky - but of course it was much much warmer/ the sky was much blacker, and the stars were much brighter. Besides which one could see the Southern Cross most beautifully, and Venus.....

Ah well,memories are made of such moments.....

i'm told the upside of being down under is that you look *in*to our galaxy, not out of it as we do here up north

plus there is less light to pollute the sky down there

Where I go in Scotland has almost no light pollution at all - the nearest street lights are about 15 miles away (a small village, no more than 20 streetlights) and the nearest town is 40 miles away, with several mountains in the way. The sky is incredible there!

I'd love to know what the Milky Way looks like from Down Under though...
