GB, glad you had a good evening in spite of the disappointment. You never know, the 'eavesdropper' might be more interested than you think

it's not like it's the first time you've been part of a group of singles who like your company
just in case you hadn't noticed

I know Pierce but hootoo meets are too far and way too long inbetween whiles.
I need something to look forward to more regularly, or I'll descend into that deep, dark pit of depression again.

Nah, we wil drag you out of that pit GB, we all fall down it from time to time.
Hey, are you going to add that guy to the drool thread?

Have you tried a bit more fibre in your diet?

Oh, that's funny. Splitting my sides, I am. While I'm sat here all alone, facing another night going to bed alone, hugging my pillow instead of a warm body. I don't think I'll write any more journals about my lack of love life, seeing as how it's such a joke.

Oh, GB, i know the 'pillow' feeling; but honestly it's even worse if you are living with someone you love & they reject you, I've been through that in the past, it is evil.
Do you have a companion animal? Lovely to hug at night, always faithful.
You are such a great person, i am sure you will find 'THE One', more likely they will find you!
Have you tried the site OK Cupid? It's free, has security devices galore, you can specify what you are looking for. I met P via that site, we communicated for around a year before actually meeting in RL & it worked out; certainly not perfect, but nothing ever is.
Whatever, you know you have good fiends here who care about you. Every time i look at the stars i think of you. Clear skies here in the middle of nowhere, come & visit, show me how to use P's telescope; he is very into astronomy, come & see our new puppy & Hootoo the donkey, Molly the goat, Fritz the cat ...and of course, Her Ladyship Queen Yoda!

GB, I promise I wasn't treating you or your situation as a joke. The last thing I'd want to do is upset you. You're a good friend, I was just trying to make you smile. Let's face it, round here, we all laugh at each other , but in fun, not to be nasty.
I'm sorry if I upset you...

Hi all, sorry to be such a grump, it's just all the Valentine stuff everywhere you look is really doing my head in. Yet another year I am no-one's Valentine and I feel like I'm turning to stone. Yes I do have a companion animal, a Goldie who is wonderful to come home to, but can't be my plus one for weddings etc; and she won't keep still when I go in for a snog
(just kidding)
I've joined Ok Cupid, thanks Terri. It took me an hour to fill out the profile but I've had a positive response, even an email from a gentleman businessman in Vietnam offering to put me up in a five star hotel ()
There are also winks from denizens of Cleethorpes so I've replied. How did you find a man interested in astronomy, Terri? I swear, every man in my life has rolled their eyes upon mention of stars and outer space
Don't worry Hoggy, I didn't mean to react that way and thanks for the BIG

This won't help- much, but I found my late husband when I wasn't even looking. Went to a bar with my roommate, whose favorite band was playing there, and a tall skinny guy sat down to talk to me about architecture (for 3 hours!). He'd spent the day touring the Bradbury Building, a historic office building in downtown LA, and just talked to me about it.
Gotta say, you single guys out there, the best pickup line is talking about what you love. If the lady isn't interested, then she's probably not receptive to anything by narrow interests. Someone talking about their interests will get me anytime!

should have said, "not interested in anything but her own narrow interests."

Well; i have just been told by P, after his return from two weeks holiday, whilst i look after his farm that he doesn't actually love me.
So, maybe it's better to not give love out, 'cos you end up getting even more hurt.
*But i do have a puppy, as well as lovely Yoda at least from all this.*
