"I can already see why people go into space and then spend all their time blathering on about how wonderful Earth is"
"Sod the peaches, I've just noticed the view"
Fabulous choice of music too.
If you missed this programme it's on the iPlayer for a week or so (for UK licence fee payers) http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00lfdbv/James_May_on_the_Moon/

I pay my subscription to the BBC through Sky, but I'm not entitled to use iPlayer.

I'm sorry Gnomon, you would have enjoyed it. If it gets repeated on BBC2 or BBC3 I will let you know
James' quotes were poignant (I just watched it through again) "a completely different sphere of human activity" (as compared to flying on a plane) and he apologised to his pilot for getting emotional
His final words on landing back on Earth? "If everyone could do that once, it would completely change the face of global politics, religion, race, everything..."
A truly awesome programme which brought tears to my eyes, thank you to the programme makers and God Bless the brave men and women who venture off the planet.

I missed it too - must try to catch the repeat.
It's being shown again at these times:
Thu 25 Jun 2009 23:20 BBC Two (England, Northern Ireland, Wales only)Fri 26 Jun 2009 00:25 BBC Two (Scotland only)
Hopefully one of these will be on your Sky service, Gnomon.

the bit where he was buzzed by aliens in a spacecraft whilst at the edge of the atmosphere was particularly interesting.

It's ok, I think I can restrain myself from looking at this thread until I see the programme.
