Hi GB and gnoman,
Since I heard about him being ill I have also been taking note.
I have such admiration for someone who is so physically handicapped and yet has made such wonderful contributions to science. It is a rare gift not yo be bitter about one's disabilities, and yet it never seems to have bothered him.

Hi Pierce the
Thank you so much, kind sir.
Offers the old a hand up after his courteous bow.!!
I am quite shattered with the sudden death of our dear pheloxi.
He was one of my first contacts on hootoo, and was always so kind and compassionate and never made me feel my age. !!
It was through him that I managed to find out that I chose the name also Ran back in 2001 - quite a long time for an old biddy like me to be a member!! But I have made some wonderful friends on hooto wo whom my venerable age does not matter one iota.!!
Kind regards
Christiane.

dear AR80
i was so schocked to learn about his death. i knew his health had been bad from his very birth, but learning that he'd suddenly gone was - well, it was just too much for me yesterday evening
you may encounter bad things in your life but overcome and then and live on and still be able to carry a smile on your face - and in your heart - but over the years things pile up inside you anyway and when things like these suddenly occur - oh well, you do the math (and i know you are good at it )
anyway, we will survice this too, but we will never forget him - and we shouldn't
he was a remarkable man. not only did he show more will to live in peace with his fellow beings - he also had more ability to do so than most people i have met
i'm not saying he was a saint. he was a human like the rest of us. but he deserved more respect than many
i was so happy when he had his eyes operated a few years back. besides being born with a crippled arm and bad eyesight he was also suffering from diabetes, but now he could at least enjoy improved eyesight and it became easier for him to be online
now that i think about it, i don't think i ever heard him complain - and believe you me, he really had reasons to!
oh well, i'll stop rambling now - and raise a glass for brother pheloxi come friday when he will end his final voyage

Dear Piers the
Well, thank you
I am at last able to cry. It was such a shock.
He understood our familial problem s0 well. My son has a chronic mental illness due to LSD being slipped into his drink when he was stdying for a Masters.
I told him about pheloxi this morning - my son also has diabetes as a result of medication, and now he has gone off again to where he used to live. I only hope that it will be a success.
We shall all be thinking of dear pheloxi on Friday. He will always be with us probably even more so now.
Sincerely,
Christiane
