Signs that there's a man around the house #1:
"How much extra would it cost to add Sky Sports to your cable channels?"

Oi - it's what us blokes do! Give us some sports, a beer or two and something to fix (preferably that isn't broken in the first place) and we're happy - simple pleasures.
I haven't got Sky Sports - but I've got the Premiership Channel and a Season Ticket for City. The Admiral is coming with to the match tomorrow - her idea. And she understands the offside rule, which was explained without the use of a cruet set, so anybody that says women can never understand it should be pointed in my direction!

As I sit here in my replica shirt, having just returned from my boys' first fixture of the new season, I can hardly argue...
Anyone who says women can never understand offside could also be directed to A733600 and invited to note the identity of the author!

In spite of loathing football, I do have a vague idea of the offside rule, which seems to evolve from season to season.
When the menfold are really really bored and haven't got anything better to do, I let them explain it to me *again* (usually followed by a deep sigh) just so that they can think they are superior to me.

i've had it explained a couple of times i think...it didn't seem complicated, it's just so uninteresting i don't even remember what it's vaguely about (obviuosly football, but yeh..)

The offsides rule is dead easy...
It's when a defensive player is in the neutral zone when the ball is snapped. Results in a five yard penalty and repeat of the down.
There's nothing wrong with having a couple of sports channels in your cable package. Just tell him he can watch Eurosport or something like that.

Looks like American not Association Football to me Ormy. Must be one of our American cousins.
Howdy partner.

TJ's a college football (US) fanatic, so I resigned myself to the fact that I'd lose him during football season. I figured I'd join him and watch with him after I finished cleaning (a great excuse to leave the room!). Wouldn't you know ... his team would rally and win after I'd come into the room to watch. They won the championship. Now I'm a good luck charm. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea.

DD, that is in deed American Football. However, I'm not one of your American cousins. I'm your friendly neighbourhood Swede on the Kelvinside of Scotland.
