A Conversation for H2G2 Researcher ID Card

There's no reason why your card would have to match your skin, so I don't think we need to worry about that too much, although with the card printers mentioned above, it would be easy to have more than one design to select.

I'd definitely go for this! It'd be a brilliant idea! I always thought it would be good to have a card (like Ford is mentioned as having, which he uses in those *difficult* situations). Another idea which could be incorporated. If only h2g2 members got issued with one, it could solve the problems that might arise at real-time-meet-ups as h2g2 gets bigger - a kind of security thing. I'm going to become and ACE very soon, so I'll try to help push the idea forwards too!

I think it's a brilliant idea! Mind if I print out that one and laminate it? *grins*....

I certainly wouldn't stop you! Until h2g2 adopts something like this, I suppose that's one way of doing it
Just make sure you change it from 'Redbeard' though

Hey Red, just out of curiousity, have they done anything about the H2G2 business cards idea yet?

Nothing seemed to be happening for awhile, but I've added it to feature suggestions forum and Abi and Peta seem to think it's pretty likely to fly, now that T-shirts are being sold and everything, so I'm pretty optimistic.

Would you like to formulate the article and responses into an article RedBeard? It is a very good idea and with some more press coverage, you may attract more support?

Not a bad idea. I may do that for next week.
Thanks, Shazz

True, and as a Goo inthusiast, I say we should just stick with that. I think that although the card could be a novelty, there may be ways to set it up as having some legitimate functions, such as a press pass of sorts. Using a mag-stripe, it could even work as a credit card of sorts. Maybe it could be hooked up to a bank account, more like a check card, so that you control how much you spend with it, and the h2g2 staff doesn't have to go out and make a bank.

Just poking back in to see what might be happening on this front. I popped over to DNAShop the other day hoping to find some new and exciting gizmos, but alas, the cards weren't there yet. Mine still sits proudly on the page, but I'd really like to be able to flip it out at parties.

Why did I guess when I posted that (after hitting 'post message' of course ) statement that it might gain a life of its own?
