Johnny Lee Miller's Creature - was extraordinary! Child-like and helpless, dribbling and dangerous through to eloquent, taunting and criminal. Cumberbatch's Frankenstein was brilliant and deranged and tormented. I thought the entire production was a joy to watch - the Nat's sets and set-changes - with bedrooms and glaciers sinking into the floor or rising into the ceiling was eerily magical, to the thousand-light-bulb lightning bolt. The distillation of Shelly's novel opens with the creature spilling naked from some sort of fleshy womb and crawling about on the floor groaning and Victor terrified, clawing at the walls abandoning the wretch which then pursures him for the next 2 hours. What a great night out at the cine-theatre!

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

ooo... This is the one where the main characters switch the main rolls from night to night isn't it? I heard it get mixed reviews on BBC R4, but it sounded very good to me.... smiley - envy

But is it worth the price of admission twice, which is presumably the idea?

I saw it last week at a similar screening in Bradford, with the roles reversed. It was fantastic and I feel similarly to Clive in that I can't imagine the roles being reversed, which makes me want to see how they do it.

Loving the National Theatre Live programme, after Frankenstein me and my mate went straight out and bought tickets to the next one in June.

I'm taking a works outing to see the encore performances of this in the summer. This time around I will be seeing BC as the creature and JLM as Victor. smiley - biggrin
