Welcome to the atelier! If you have never been here before, please check out our forum page at A304354. We don't have atelier principles, as the pirates of the caribbean might say, but we do have guidelines. Not to mention a strange backstory and a link to illustrations.
One of the major Christian holidays is upon us, with those of other faiths not far off, so as you join this conversation you'll find us about to enjoy an atelier tradition. The bots from CLI, our downstairs landlords, will be fetching in a live goo spruce tree from the slopes of Mt. Sandeverest. They'll set it up and then we salonistas and friends will decorate the tree with ornaments that represent the lore of our assorted home planets or precious memories or our own household customs.
For many conversation introductions we have included a reprise of what was discussed and/or what happened during the previous thread. This is becoming more problematic as your hostess has far less productive time than she used to have in the day. I may pick up parts of this practice in future, but will make no promises.
As this conversation begins you'll find us carrying on about two topics: one involves the problems of sharing student digs, and the other is car accidents waiting to happen. I believe Happy Nerd is in the kitchen making chocolates with lavender.
Please make yourselves at home!

To answer Eats' new profession after he leaves his current posting, I recommend Evil but benign dictator of a small island nation. Perhaps the one off of the north coast of Tasmania.

Um, yes, sorry, over-enthusiasm there. I'll just hang onto these baubles for a bit.
In Ireland, there are large signs on the exit slips saying 'Wrong way! Turn back!' for any vehicles travelling in the wrong direction.
*My* other half actually *suggested* international porn star when I was wondering what to do post-graduation (this was of course in my younger days). His reasoning was that I had said I wanted to have a job that would involve being nice to people, but where I wouldn't be on my feet all day.
Surely, Eats, you must qualify as an expert in something, to be wheeled out on television news programmes from time to time? I wonder how one applies to go onto the international register of experts.

I was going to suggest that, with his background in hardware, eats could be a grip on porn movie sets, even if he couldn't be the star.
*Matina brings eats an irish coffee in a red and green FTTF mug*
*meanwhile the doors to the service lift whisk open to reveal a unit of CLI bots who efficiently maneuver a dolly across the room to the southeast corner. On the dolly sits an elegant, perfectly formed goo spruce. Sharp eyes will notice subtle movements in the boughs as the tree surveys its new surroundings*

I'll bring a star. My grandma used to have it hang over the door between the living room and the guest room. It was similar to this one

but made of gold and red gold paper.

Santra, pouring beer into a keyboard is both technology and alcohol abuse. I fine you a case of beer (to be delivered surreptitiously to my residence) and one keyboard. You can keep the keyboard.
