Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence

Welcome to the Atelier! For all but the several Antipodeans, Spring has arrived and all the salonistas have burst onto the terrace, led by Marv the Grate, and fired up the hibachis. It's potluck -- if you go out there, bring a dish of something to share. Even Matina is making something.

We tried an organised approach to having an official Book Read, and although Last Chance to See was well-received, the separate discussion thread never really ignited. Now, however, everyone is synchronously reading their way through Philip Pullman's trilogy titled "His Dark Materials" and lusting for an alethiometer of their own.

A handful of researchers have looked in for the first time, sufficiently many that their names all elude me. SixSevens is one; Plato is another, and Child just showed up today. I think there must have been others, and if so the salonistas will remind me.

smiley - yawn Excuse me. I still haven't adjusted to the time change. Every morning when my alarm goes off I am in the middle of the deepest stage of REM sleep. But I am getting sleepy at the correct time of night, so there's a start.

*and here comes Lil only 7 hours worth of daylight behind Munchkin*

Good morning y'all. I'm with you d'E, getting up earlier is a pain in the REMs. Well, I must get on with my commission work. One of the pieces is a tintype in really terrible condition; not only is the focus rather poor but the object itself is flaking away. And yet it's the only picture the fellow has of his mother...

I finished one yesterday and, when the client dropped round to leave the frame and matter which the fixed image has to match, I commented on the peculiar condition of one of the eyes (in the head of the man in the picture). Turned out it was a glass eye. They were impressed. smiley - smiley
