That has the potential to be a laughter riot but i've seen somewhere that Thud is going to be a major dwarves versus trolls book. something about the sides being at war. try checking amazon for details. I know the books supposed to be coming out middle of october though.

"Having not received the latest news from Home, Carrot, as captain of the honour guard receiving the Monarch, is taken aback to see his old village witch stepping out of the carriage to review a Guard of Honour which includes Nobbs and Detritus." :-

"Hello, Carrot!" said the Queen, brightly. "I heard you'd got a job ni the Watch here, nice to see you again."

Magrat cooly stepped onto the red carpet - hastily borrowed half an hour earlier from the Rhoxy - and helped her husband down, encumbered as he was with the Royal Toys belonging to Princess Esmerelda. Her eyes swept down the line of Watchmen, which had a very wiggly and ill-defined kink in it where Corporal Nobbs was slouching to attention in the lee of Sergeant Detritus.

"Perhaps if these gentlemen step aside, we'll see this honour guard we're meant to be reviewing?" Magrat suggested, helpfully.

Thanks for further info on "Thud", btw

Just read amazon.

hears the preamble :- A brand new Discworld novel, about an ancient feud

Synopsis
Koom Valley? That was where the trolls ambushed the dwarfs, or the trolls ambushed the dwarfs. It was far away. It was a long time ago. But if he doesn't solve the murder of just one dwarf, Commander Sam Vimes of Ankh-Morpork City Watch is going to see it fought again, right outside his office. With his beloved Watch crumbling around him and war-drums sounding, he must unravel every clue, outwit every assassin and brave any darkness to find the solution. And darkness is following him. Oh...and at six o'clock every day, without fall, with no excuses, he must go home to read 'Where's My Cow?', with all the right farmyard noises, to his little boy. There are some things you have to do.

Yes it's another Guards book.

I have a strong affinity for the witches, esp. Granny Weatherwax, but as Eloisa just mentionned "love"... I must admit I've had a huge crush on Carrot ever since he emerged from his mine...smiley - loveblush
