OK girls - seeings as the Stammtisch is not back in action, let's meet here.
Here's the rest of that bottle of whisky we started, and some crisps (the only flavour available in Germany until recently: "paprika"). Anyone care to join me and talk girls' talk.

Hi everybody!
Girl's talk is a good idea! A friend of mine has her "hen night" (I like the German expression "Junggesellinnenabschied" MUCH better - I think this word simply looks SO funny!!!) next week.
We're having a slumberparty! And a lot of alcohol!
And a lot of girl talk I hope!!
Floh, do you know how to mix a "Harvey Wallbanger"??? My favourite cocktail... . (Or one of my favourites! )
I brought some Schokoküsse (yes: I'm P/C; no: I have no idea what the english word is!!!! ).
I thought something sweet would be a nice complement to the salty crisps... .

Well, I did play around with names like "hen party" .. but decided on this, as it is a place where the men definitely can't come, and lots of lovely conversations take place in the toilets!!!
At the risk of demonstrating a shameful lack of street cred, I would like to know what a "Harvey Wallbanger" IS?
Nice to see you all came, anyway. Haven't been on line much lately - have been out a bit. All to do with kids and school. On Monday the school put on a "musical" based on "Tanz der Vampire", where my son played ... he's in the school band, I'm terribly proud of that .. and they accompanied the musical. Then Wednesday was the last day of school and same son went out to watch another band practising in a village miles away. He rang about 7 pm to say he didn't have any money, and then the call was cut off. We took this as a call for help and spent two hours driving round the villages looking for him - to find him finally at his girlfriend's house - where he had walked to ... at least three villages away, about 15 km. Wearing only a teeshirt.
But, I don't think any of you have children, so I won't bore you further with their antics. Except to say that it's like dying a little death to think that my eldest has just had his last day of school. Ever. Abitur and out into the world in the next weeks.
Last night went to local town hall for a quite good production of Molière's "Misanthrope" - der Menschenfeind. The play was well translated. Well-known actor, Horst Jansen, played the leading role. It was quite funny and the story is very modern.
Real Life doesn't half take up a lot of time, doesn't it!!!

Harvey Wallbanger
2 cl Galliano
4 cl Wodka
10 cl orange juice
1 orange slice
Shake Wodka and orange juice with some ice cubes and strain in a glass with more ice cubes. Add the Galliano carefully without stirring.
This drink got its name from the Californian surfer Harvey. After a won championship he's said to have drank too much of his favourite beverage and then started to bang his surfboard against house walls...
Hmmm...
Is the name of the actor Horst JansOn from the Sesamstraße?

That sounds about right!
Very lecker!!! Thanks Floh!!!
Kasia, go ahead with the Schokoküsse! I like the big ones (Dickmann's!!) best, but I also love the very small ones - preferably with the white chocolate!

BTW in England (can only speak for there) they are called Chocolate Marshmallows. Not very imaginative. Can't stand the things.

I love them - maybe, because I have diffilulties to get some Dickmann's in Poland - when there are here, they are catched within minutes, lol!

Hi Floh,
I'm proud: I DIDN'T get drunk yesterday.
Thanks for your offer!!! I think I need a shoulder to cry on!! (Although I have to admit my husband makes a very gpretty job of that already!!)
Basically I'm just tired and stressed. I already wrote in another forum that I started a new job. And although I like it here it's a lot of work and I'm always going straight to bed when I come home - no real private life anymore I'm just too tired. Luckily I'm sure this stress will get less and less. So I'll have my own life back in no time hopefully!!!
The real reason I wanted to get drunk yesterday: one of my friends is getting married next week. And now (of all times) a very ugly story happend and we had a BIG (!) fight yesterday and the day before.
And now she practically told me to stay away from her wedding... .
I'm not saying I was completely innocent in this! I was angry with her because she anticipated something I was to do for her - but she didn't ask me to do it for her - she simply arranged everything and was confident I wouldn't mind. I was pissed (as in "angry"! Not as in "drunk"! ) about that and told her so. Apparently that was the wrong thing to do. One word lead to the other (mind you we were not talking - we were having our fight via E-Mail!!!!!) and suddenly she un-invited me.
I'm not sure if I'm more sad or angry... .
I STILL think I was right to be angry in the first place and I was right to tell her so but I DEFINITELY didn't want THAT to happen... .
I'm not sure what I'm going to do now - maybe I'll try to speak to her again next week... .
Thanks for listening, Floh!!!!!

Hi Aurora
You're welcome
IMHO it' HER turn to speak to YOU, but I don't think she'll do so because of the circumstances. Perhaps she will realize later that it was her fault (i.e. IMHO again), but that would be after the wedding And that's a _little_ bit late
Hmm, sad story
I wish you the strength to get through this (and the rest )

Hello Floh,
Thank you so much for the support!!!
You know how it is: you're angry about something and you think you have a real reason to be angry. But by mentioning your anger you start an avalanche and afterwards you not only wish you had held your tongue but you're not sure anymore if it wasn't entirely your own fault... .
Well, I hope everything will turn out good in the end. I'll keep you posted!
But for now: hey, it's Friday!!! May I invite you on a
?

Hi you two. Sorry I haven't been on line. Am actually still on holiday but it's such awful weather I've splashed out on a bit of internet consolation from the hotel computers.
It's always upsetting when people argue. Not knowing the situation exactly, but bearing in mind that your friend is in a bit of a "stress" situation, Aurora, perhaps we shouldn't discuss who should be apologising to whom, but just get on with life. Can't you just suggest to your friend that you should forget the fight - perhaps she didn't even see it as such - it might have been an annoying sideline to all her other wedding stress - and start again. Ask her if she really thinks she doesn't want you to her wedding. Explain how hurt you were that she didn't ask for your help. Would that work? It would be sad to fall out just before a wedding.
On the other hand, perhaps you can use this time out to re-think the friendship entirely. Is this a person you really want and need to still be friends with? Sometimes friendships end. If you are really that upset about it, then probably you do want to keep her, so just make her a lovely wedding present and Schwamm drüber. (Or not - if you prefer). I wish I could cheer you up but I'm probably a bit late, and it's something you have to do yourself, really, anyway.
And Floh. Argument with boyfriend. Hmm. Same advice? Maybe. But boyfriends are by definition dispensable. They're for trying out your partnership qualities and for testing out what you want in a partner. I hope no one is offended by that, it's difficult to comment really as I don't know (a) how long you had been together (b) whether you were living together (c) how old you both are (d) how serious you were about each other (e) how committed you were and how much involved with each others' family and friends etc..... so many criteria.
Having now probably trod on lots of people's toes, I had better go and get me some too, to cover any embarrassment.
