Indeed, and I do wish I lived in London for the scene and the variety which it offers.

I'm wasting it really. As I mentioned a while back, I grew up with straight mates, and I didn't move here until I was in my late twenties (still virtually virginal). I'm at a point now where I tend to get mashed with colleagues or spend the evening with friends at home. I really, *reaaly* should get out more but, as I don't have many gay mates, if I go to a gay bar it's usually on my own and I just feel a bit seedy.

There's a reason for that Roymondo... and it has nothing to do with you being on your own

It does seem odd that no-one can leave me a message because on other forums in which I participate you can leave someone a message without having to fill in a "personal space" section and I have no inclination nor reason to fill out a "personal space" section because all I really want to do is post in topic discuussions (although it would be nice if this site, m2m2, was a little more up to date).
Also, can someone please clarify the comment I got recently whereby someone said "you will not be able to post unless you are registered with h2g2 because I appeared here via the health boards" even though I am clearly able to post because I am registered with the BBC messageboards!
Sorry to take this off topic briefly but I do need to ask fro clarification of the above two points please.

To the best of my knowledge, you don't have to write anything on your PS, you just need to log into Hootoo just once.
To do this, go to the Front Page of h2g2 and click on the 'Sign In' button. You should be able to use your existing account details. This way you'll have logged into h2g2 and, crucially, viewed your PS in Hootoo, which means we should be able to leave messages.
You don't have to write anything or participate in any way, but hootoo is a big community and there's all sorts of cool stuff going on, you might find you want to.
And if you want m2m2 to be updated, give mikeo_s the gregarious (U201990) a shout, he's looking for volunteers

I've done exactly that (logged in from the h2g2 front page) but am still confused by the following, quoting from ACE lil 'ol me:
"Due to you entering the Health Messageboard [the area of the BBC MBs I had previously posted in before posting on h2g2], you will find that no-one in h2g2 can actually leave you a message, unless like me they barge into another conversation.
If you would like to remain in h2g2 and participate fully in the community, you can register onto the site by amending your name slightly and then you can change it back by using the "My Preferences" option in your Personal Space."
I don't understand why I have to register for this site becuase I am already registered with the BBC messageboards and I am clearly able to post on this site due to me being registered with the BBC nmessageboards. Any attempt to try to deconfuse me would be appreciated!

It just means that nobody can leave *you* a message. You can contribute to the conversations but nobody can pop by and say 'Hi'.

Thank you for that. Therefore what do I have to do to enable someone to leave me a message?

Ask an ACE to contact one of the Eds about it they can probably switch on a button somewhere that lets it happen

Rillington, when we look at your PS we see this:
'This is the Personal Space of Rillington. Unfortunately Rillington doesn't seem to have found the time to write anything by way of an introduction yet, but hopefully that will soon change.
By the way, if you've become a member but haven't yet written an Introduction to your Personal Space, then this is what your Space looks like to visitors (and, in the same way that you can't leave a message here for this Researcher, others won't be able to leave messages for you on your Space). You can change this by clicking on the 'My Space' button, going to your Space, clicking on the 'Edit Page' button, and entering your own Introduction - it's highly recommended!'
I don't know if the 'Edit Page' thing works if you've come from another DNA board but give it a go anyway! You can just write 'Hello' if you like but it will 'activate' your PS so we can leave messages...
...if it works.

I just tried leaving you a message but for some reason it now tells me that I can't leave a message until I've logged in.

Hi Rillington 26/1/06 @ 1:00am
Rillington Posted Jan 26, 2006
Yes I used to be a regular on the old gay One Life MB before they dropped it (sorry "merged" it with the other One Life MBs) claiming it was because there are plenty of other gay sites and forums (including the new one called Twolife) on the net and not something the BBC should be doing.
We set up twolife becuase the Sunday Surgery Lounge regulars were disrespectful to the former gay MB users by trashing gay threads with rubbish and we all left and set up Twolife.
Hi again 26/1/06 @ 1:41
