I'm kind of excited about this new series, hope it will be better than the one with Archer. That one really wasn't very good. I'm only disappointed it will play 'in the past' again, if you know what I mean. I'd rather like to see what happened after Voyager.

Archers one was a flop, next runner up was voyager

I don't think Voyager was as bad as some people say it was, but it is true that TNG and DS9 were better. I never was a fan of Kirk.

I quite enjoyed 'Voyager' - in fact I'd watch it every day with my son when he was a baby. He used to find the opening sequence particularly soothing when he needed an afternoon nap.

We have all Star Trek series on DVD - except for the old ones with Kirk. Currently we're watching DS9 again. It's my favourite Star Trek series.

I agree Bluebottle "Voyager" was quite a good series very watchable indeed.

I have enjoyed most series' in their time, and only now getting into Enterprise . . . It's on silly early in the morning, and still not really grabbing me as ALL of the others did. While some characters have been re-used from one run to another, most are sufficiently unique to not seem like rehashes. I'd not mind seeing another take on it.

PS: the newer and younger movie versions, with Young Kirk, Spock, McCoy, etc have done nothing at all for me.

I must say I even preferred the new movies to the Archer series. I just don't know why they see the need to do Kirk stuff again, why not do something new? Why redo it all 'in a different timeline'? I'm no fan of that concept.

Sadly I didn't watch 'Enterprise' until after it had been cancelled – partly because it was originally on when I didn't own a television, and partly because in any case it was shown on Channel 4 and not BBC2. When the new 'Discovery' is shown I do wonder if it'll come

Yes, I've got the new films on DVD but let's face it, Chris Pine isn't Kirk. Some fans are upset it implies that it means nothing in the original 'Star Trek' television series, from the original series, 'The Next Generation' onwards, didn't really happen. Or you could pretend it is merely set in a fictional parallel universe to the rest of 'Star Trek'. Or ignore it.

"Enterprise" showed at the same time as something or other that I already quite liked. Now that it is just about all that is on at 5 AM that isn't paid advertising, I have begun to watch it. Maybe a dozen episodes in now, it still really doesn't do it for me. We'll see how "Discovery" goes, I don't know the lead characters from anything, so I won't have any preconceptions there . . .

(With Enterprise, I still expect Archer to have a waffle-moment and wake up as a black waitress at a road-side diner in 1952 Alabama . . .)

As far as I understood Discovery will not be shown on TV but is made for streaming online.

And the new movies with Kirk etc are set in a parallel universe called 'The Kelvin Timeline'. ( https://i.stack.imgur.com/1ZwFV.png )
