That's going to take some beating

When I was driving a taxi part time back in the 80s, I was on my to a job way out in the country, and it was a right stormy night with gale force winds.

I was about ten miles away from town on my way to pick up a fare, when this bloke ran out if front of my taxi, he was lucky I never hit him!

It turned out his was due to give birth, and the ambulance would be another hour away, so I went back to his house with him.

We got her into the taxi, and I was driving "progressively" along this twisting bumpy country road, on my way to hospital.

This must have caused a reaction, as I had to stop the taxi, and deliver the baby on the back seat! Her husband wasn't much help, as he just kept running around the taxi shouting "where is the ambulance"

The baby was born without any problem, it was a boy, both Mum and Dad were delighted, I was just glad it was all over.

They came to see a few weeks later, and they told me they were going to name him with my name!

So, that was my "unusual event"

Well, they moved away not long after that, as he was a game keeper, and was offered a good position down South some where, so I never heard from them again.

Mind you, I was away a lot myself after that, as I got a new job working offshore again in the oil industry, then went over seas to work.
