VSC: Bobby Williamson sacked at Argyle...

Well I realise this thread will probably only interest me, Number 6 and Yakusmaximus but still.

Despite buying half a dozen new players Bobby Williamson has been sacked only 6 games into the new season after 4 games without a win or goal. Not entirely unexpected.

According to the local press it seems that John Gregory is a shoe in, with Tony Pullis and Peter Reid also mentioned.

I personally would love to see Tony Pullis, and I am probably in a minority of one who is not too despondant about the possibility of John Gregory (actually look at his Villa record. It aint that bad)... but I must confess I am pretty worried about the possibility of Peter Reid....

Least we'd be able to sing the classic chant about his monkey's head, i suppose we'd actually have to go to a match first though, i haven't been in an age. My money's on Reid, though i would prefer Gregory.

The thing is Reid and Head only rhyme in Geordie. In Janner it dont work smiley - winkeye.

Yeah you are right though, we ought to go sometime. I am pretty skint, spesh if I go and see Dave.

Reid and Gregory are basically the same manager - all they've got is beating their chest, chucking teacups against the wall and demanding 110%. I'm pretty sure that either would be over-priced and disastrous. Don't fancy Pulis either.

Stan Ternent would be OK, just about. If (as is being assumed) we can only afford someone currently out of work, I'd like to see someone more progressive like Paul Hart or John Aldridge approached. Hart brought through some decent players at Forest, and nearly got them up via the play-offs before most of the team was sold off and it all fell apart. And you can measure how good Aldridge was by how Tranmere plummeted after he threw the towel in.

Interesting.

I would think Paul Hart would be a very good appointment I kinda forgot about him.

As Peter Reid wouldn't move house to manage Coventry I think Plymouth can rest easy.

You could hang on for a couple of weeks - you could probably get Gordon Strachan. smiley - laugh

Dave ? I'm missing a drug reference here aren't I ?
