I don't suppose there's a page that erm...lists all the newbie pages that are around?
Oh, and the person at the bottom of the list doesn't seem to have a name, so I can't get to their u-space... Is that just a glitch?

Let's see - the <./>DontPanic-Tour</.> is a very good one - if you follow it all the way through, you'll find a lot of useful pages included in it.
My other self (ACE) usually refers to the tour, and then Feisor's page with links: A719840

Oooh, that last one is a good one
Thanks a lot for that I'm looking around at the moment for other pages.. I usually refer to h2jargon [as I found that useful when I first started] and A571899, but I wondered if there was anyhting better out there...

as to how to get to the users page there is a way but you need to sort through a load of code. If you open the window then right click there should be an option titled "view source" on the pop-up that opens. If you click that it'll show you the code for the page in a notepad document. One of the options at the top of the document should read "Search". Under that there is an option "Find" click that and type in the previous researcher on the lists name. Then just scrol along till you see the next link to a U page and that should be the blank newbie. In this case it is U815350.
I'll leave the newbie un-ACEd for now as I have to go and also so you can see if you can get those instructions to work for you, I'm not sure if I explianed it that well!

are you meaning the testuserpage in place of the U? eg http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/testuserpage815350 .
Or just to see the code in guide ml, like this. This will show you how to do it.Inspect The Code Page

It was to get to the Users page - they had a blank name therefore there was nothing to click on as a link on the new users page.

That's strange, because in theory you have to have a user name at least six characters long if you're not using the default one

Probably someone who didn't want to be ACEd/visited... Oh well, their efforts have been in vain...
I suppose, once registered, and after having typed a screen name, it might be possible to delete the nickname showing on the space... A few people have done that before... It's rather frustrating as we can't even click on their names when they're on our Friends lists...

Back to the topic of newbie pages. I tend to keep my ACE messages short, with just two links - but if the newcomer replies, I explain about the three things you can do at h2g2; reading, writing, talking.
For reading, I give the link <./>RandomEditedEntry</.>
For writing for the Guide, I give the link Writing-Guidelines
For talking, I recommend <./>Askh2g2</.>
