heh. Has there been any official reason given for why ACEs no longer recruit?

I don't see why having too many would be a problem ...

I was thinking of trying to become one. smiley - cry oh well smiley - winkeye

But then, nobody needs a badge to welcome and help new people do they? (why does that one deputy from the Andy Griffith show suddenly spring to mind? smiley - erm)

well, in a way you do. If a new user hasnt been 'aced' yet we'd appreciate you not posting to their space since it takes them off our 'people who need to be aced' list once theirs a convo on their page. We do check but it just makes life slightly more difficult smiley - smiley however that doesnt mean if their in a thread your in you cant help them out

The </.>aces</.> *do* have recruiting drives when spaces become available. But quite often people are recommended, by other volunteers for the positions, from their general helpfulness onsite and qualities they show that make them ideal for the job. (although there are no shortcuts and all recommendations have to be backed up with multiple examples!)

So the best thing to do is volunteer on the official <./>volunteer</.> thread, and then show by example that you have what it takes smiley - ok

Good luck smiley - smiley

oops - of course I meant <./>aces</.> smiley - winkeye

I should emphasis that friends of Aces don't queue jump (and are often not accepted), but when active on the site then we often come across people that impress us and they will get a good word put in if they volunteer smiley - ok

All volunteer recruitment is advertised on the <./>frontpage</.> so if you don't already then bookmark the page - it changes everyday anyway showing the latest and greatest happenings onsite smiley - ok

OK ... I don't see any "official thread" - your link just linked to the main Volunteers article but I C what you're talking about.smiley - ok
If ACEdom is usually by referral, then why doesn't the ACEs page say so?
ah well. smiley - winkeye I'll find something else to do.
I wonder ... what kind of reputation do I have? smiley - huh
hmm ... I'm actually clueless on that point.
prolly "another one of those annoying loopy Americans come to bother us over the 'Net" smiley - laugh
