Unfortunately Paul, 'E's passed on!
'E is no more!
He has ceased to be!
'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker!
'E's a stiff!
Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace!
If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies!
'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory!
'E's kicked the bucket,
'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil,
run down the curtain
and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!!
'E'S an ex-Einstein.

Nevertheless, even a dead Einstein would have a better chance at asnwering your question than I would.

Bound to be some woman with a few dozen kids to feed. Without her the onward march of science would have come to a grinding halt, while we were still living in caves.

That reminds me of a passage from Orwell's "1984," when Winston Smith was listening to a stout Prole woman singing as she put the laundry out to dry. He described her breasts as being as big as cabbages, but he reflected that she was the future of the human race because she made sure that the children got born and fed and raised.

Absolutely. It has historically been left to women to keep things clean too - with its role in achieving scientifically respectable results as well as containing disease, as that scene also demonstrates.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
