East Germany. 19 year old, former student went to the school and shot 18 people.... That's what happened in Germany...

14 teachers, 2 schoolgirls, 1 policaman and himself

It's scary and sad. School is meant to be a good place...

I know...can't remember such a tragedy since Columbine...

ARGH!!! I was posting here, and I got kicked offline!!! Was quite revealing too....

Anyway...

As I was writing...

::Sniffles:: Columbine happened four days after my parents and I were in a car accident that should have killed at least one of us. Life didn't make since in April that year, and I still look back and wonder why I survived and those high school kids did not. I wasn't much older than them at 19, and I loved high school; my memories were still very real. Terrible...

I will ALWAYS regret that I didn't force someone to drive me to Littleton to see the memorials at the school(we don't live that far away).

It's always a pity to hear about these sort of things...

On the same kinda subject, I woke up on the mornings of the deaths of John Thaw and The Queen mother with a sad feeling Spooky..

As for the school shootings: it's a
miracle that there aren't more of them.
Schools are the most stressful places
on the planet. Some young people don't
handle stress at all well. One stressed-out
kid with a gun can do a lot of damage.
Two or three, acting together, can tear
a community apart.

It's ok Paul, I like being open, I encourage the views of other people (hope that didn't sound too corny, eh?)

hadn't heard about germany (could be because h2g2 was the only place i went yesterday).

I've been stressed out, too. I work
in a two-person department that is
now a one-person department because
the *other* person retired (in mid-February)
and has not yet been replaced.

By the end of the day, my eyes are usually
so tired from endless w**k that they seem
ready to jump out of their sockets and
run away to Bora Bora.

But today is Saturday, and I managed to
sleep a little later than usual.

Guess who found their alternative ID again?

I heard about the Germany killings, so very tragic.
I can't help wondering what the catalyst for these actions might be. Is it something at school, at home or just the world in general?
