Things in general - and workload in particular - just got to me this week. I am finding it increasingly depressing to cope with the day to day running of <./>ThePost</.> on my own. It has become very lonely here at the Post Office and I seem to have lost my motivation for the present.
Hopefully this feeling will soon diminish and I'll bounce back. All those of you who have submitted articles and/or emails please be patient. All items are safely stored for use in the very next issue and I will reply to emails soon.

Do you need more volunteers to help? It would be a shame to see The Post go downhill for lack of help.

Well that's two people happy to help already.
I'm happy to do the coding for articles, poems etc. I mean I've already started sending my poems pre-coded for you

Sorry to hear this Shazz.
It does seem like an enormous amount of work for one person to do. I hope you can find a workable way to share the load a bit, as the post is undoubtedly one of the most worthwhile projects on the site.

I am glad that shazz has taken a much needed break.
To me it is simply amazing that she has held on and steered this ship thru fair and foul for more than five years with no financial compensation and little technical support from the site management.
I said so and more in a Post article published back in December on the occassion of the fifth anniversary of :
A3354338
Having tried myself to organise the <./>AggGag</.> section I burnt out after a year. Revived and revised in response to a public cry for 'more' the subsequent "Committee for Alien Content" (CAC) lasted about six months before burn out set in again.
And then encouraged to have another go, I burnt out on the latest iteration, The CAC-Continuum, after just five issues. Happily the CAC-Continuum has struggled along without me for months under the guidance of the Underguide volunteers. And I have only just started doing it again because the volunteers were getting weary.
The point is that more than a dozen people have tried to manage and edit just our one small part of and died in their tracks, unable to cope with a small fraction of the same obstacles and disincentives that shazz has faced and fought for more than five years.
So I say from experience that being a volunteer editor around here is a thankless and time consuming task. Not just the gathering and editing and designing and writing and GDMLcoding and House Rules but all the social politics inolved in keeping all the writers happy, stroking egos, fending off unfair and unwarranted criticism - and mostly dealing with an indifferent site management that offers no help or reward for what is the longest lasting and most successful part of this site. The h2g2POST is the heart of h2g2.
I hope that this thread will bring more volunteers willing to assist the h2g2POST in a brighter future and that when they have gained some awareness of the huge effort that goes into that they will hold on and preserve this most important part of h2g2.
We owe it to shazz to preserve her legacy. We owe it to h2g2 to see that the heart of the place, a place for the free communication of ideas, keeps on beating. But nobody can beat the odds the way shazz has.
Shazz,
Take two of these and call me in the morning.

Asmodai dark I wouldnt brag about your abilities with guide ml,
for one I remember a few times trying to give you helpful advice which you droped on the floor,
and may i mention without giving offence that sometimes your mannor towards other researchers can be a little.... uncivil at the best of times and down right offensive at others

Okay guys let's not bring it in here.
Agreeing with what jwf said, I think that we all have to admit that Shazz has been carrying the post along on her own incrediably well and deserves as much help as we can give. Some of us have more time than she does and so could take on a large part of at least the boring time-consuming stuff.

The Post TEAM???? I asked Shazz about the TEAM WORK and the answer was that Shazz is the TEAM!!!
You see All of you: this is not fair and here in this "public" forum I really suggest to make it REAL,-- materialize the offered help!
Have no idea how to get organized, but Shazz could perhaps pick the right person for the right job!
Because their is - By Nature - a limit for everybody and it is only Natural that is NO POST FOR YOU to read!
Anyway: THE POST TEAM should be a T e a m! ? bird
Key: Complain about this post
