How about Commies? With the Red Menace all but gone from the world, the trademark on that one might be expired...

How's about the Welcome Wagoneers? Just a thought...
Here's a few more:
1) Sub-Commies, with Peta as the Head Commie...;
2) Hoopy Groopies;
3) CIA (Community-Interested Activists);
4) social workers.
cheers,
Necro

I just logged in to the h2g2 universe ... I don't even know my own name yet ... but several names jumped off the top of my head as I read of your need ... here goes: Bob & Ed (if you can explain it, please ... I may need help) ...or, Sceditor, the demon from below binary ... OK, really, how about this: Subbed?

I dunno the right answer to all this, but it ought to be warm, friendly, scintillating [and maybe purple]. It should also be self explanatory so that the new people that are being greeted arent any more confused than they all ready are.
How about 'Official' h2g2 Community Greeter? ? ?
OCG ???
Not exactly scintillating, is it? but you get the idea.
On the other hand, these people have signed up to be Official Researchers, right?
this is a job, right?
OK, so it's a career! a vocation! a profession!!!
For the few, the Proud, the MARINES!!!!!
WHOOPS, wrong promotion, sorry.
How about Official Guide Researcher Orientation Officer and Greeter?
OGROOG???
I'm not really very good at acronyms, maybe someone else can help with this part.

Following recent naming trends how about
"Peta's Pack of Picked People People Politely Providing Pertinent Points Pertaining to Previously Perturbed Preregistration Personages - Promoting Pleasant Pastimes & Paynimism, Preventing & Prohibiting Pernicious & Ponderous Pontifications Possibly Prejudicial to Permanent Playtime; Pedling Pearls of Playfullness, Pavans, Particularly Participatory Peaceful Perambulatory Pastime Parameters, Pleasant Pheasant & Peasant Plucking, Perspicacious Permutations, Paronomasia Producing Paroxysms, Primary Passion 'Puter Pasquinade. Pardon 'P' Pasticco - Patent Pending (Probably )"
Simply drips off the tongue, don't you think?
Of course, if you show it to the Marketing Department they'll change it to the mega trendy, confusing and hard to pronounce P^56
If the above is already taken you could always use Peta's Pals.

As the Sub Comm Editors are not actually 'editing' anything why not leave the editor bit out, and as the newby would be likely to turn to the researcher who 'greeted' him/her with questions or for advice about h2g2, initially at least, I'd suggest we called them 'Guides'. So, how about
'Newby Guides'.
'HH Guides'.
' Researcher Guides' or
'h2g2 Guides'
Just a thought, All the best A.M.

Thinking about the time zone thing - how about, "G'day Mates", "The Aloha Team" or for the North Americans "Have A Nice Stay".
Bruce's contribution does have a certain linquistic loquacious charm though

Hey, how's this (sticking with the entire Guide idea...) Sassy Froods. Why? Because, anyone working under Peta is one really together and with it person. Just an idea.

Hi Peta!!
And, LOL Bruce! Though by the time any newbies finished reading *that* title, they might turn-tail and run away! It's a title, it's a test!
Seriously, all the titles above sound great but I personally liked "The Official Welcome Party", or anything similarly "official" sounding. Official, yet friendly. Maybe "The Official, Yet Friendly, Welcome Guides to the Guide". Or something.
Anyway, P.S., if you're still looking for little helpers, I'd love to join up! I mean, I can't spell worth a whit and my grammar skills are right out the window, so my dream of becoming a sub-ed is never likely to be realized. But I'm really, really nice! And helpful, with excellent organizational skills. And such. I'll just wait over here....in this corner...and you can let me know.
