Went not too badly. Good enough for them to ask for my references anyway. Having never done this before I am now sitting here like a bag of highly strung cats worrying about what sort of references they will give and whither, after talking to my current work they decide not to take me on but then work knows I am thinking of leaving and it all gets awkward. Mind you I have a meeting on Friday with my personal development manager which could be interesting either way now.
Anyway, here I sit all panicy and doing absolutely nothing useful. Not unlike an English Cricket fan I should think.

I'm glad it went well. Perhaps this will encourage your current employer to make you an even better offer than they planned on Friday in order to keep you. And it gives you the chance to say something like, "You know, I like this place, but I'm just not going anywhere here career wise." You'll think of the perfect thing to say.

I am trying to think of you in a bag "like a lot of highly strung cats" Somehow I cannot imagine the self-assured, straw boatered Scotsman who was an excellent runner at the game you were all playing in Regents Park, as anyone who could get anxious.
How wrong can one be.
Anyway, I always think that a good dose of adrenaline is extremely good for the constitution my friend!!In fact I think that it is the which will make the outcome of your endeavours result in your being offered something fantabulous!!.
With affection

One of the reasons I want to move on is that my current employers can't offer me that. I have had an interesting and educational six years with them but it definately is time to move on to something else. Here is hoping.

AR1 I agree adrenaline can do wonderful things but at the moment it is just making me scatterbrained and with a terribly urge to run around like a headless chicken. As I won't hear anything for at least a couple of days I need to calm down though or I will get nothing useful done at all.

You could just sit down and watch the cricket It'd do wonders for your nerves ( maybe not).
Hope you get the responses you want, I'm sure you did fine

Wow, I don't have a personal development manager. What is it? Is it like a psychiatrist? A cheerleader? A banker? Is it bigger than a breadbox?

Why doesn't anyone tell me these things...?
They don't normally check references unless you're down to a shortish shortlist mate.... Looking good!

Well, if you had turned up on Saturday night rather than gallivanting around Ireland then you might have heard.
As to what a Personal Development Manager is; they are someone whose express job is to say "Sorry, we don't have any money for your personal development this year. Now would you please work harder."

Well pardon me for drinking Porterhouse Red and eating Oyster Stout sausages.....
Do you have any indication of when you might know about the job?

It sounds as if I am not in need of a personal development manager at this time.

I don't think a person who goes to Dublin and doesn't drink Guiness deserves forgiveness, you know.

I now have a terrible hankering for Porterhouse Stout. Thankyou.
As to the job, it is basically what I was doing in Edinburgh only ninety percent of the time happening within ten minutes walk of my house. Which would be handy. Of course in the interview they said they had some work currently in Stirling, so I could put money on where I would start.

I have never had Porterhouse stout. I have consumed more than my share of Porterhouse steaks, however.
