I actually believe you can apply almost every metaphor to almost every subject (our little heads always manage to relate two things).
This implies on the one hand that no metaphor can pretend to be accurate but on the other hand that the more metaphors you make, the more webs you have to catch reality. (with all the advantages and disadvantages of webs (was that a metaphor?))

there's a fundamental problem in the syntax of your language:
the "would" in "I'd love a drink" destroys everything.
I'd rather say: "I love an agar dish"
