Now...with all that cleared up.....what does the tag do?

The tag ( in GuideML) inserts a blank line. If you use tags on your paragraphs, there is no need to insert it between paragraphs (from the submitted Entries I've seen, no one seems to know this).

Oh god yes, submitted articles...I've only gone over two batches (of ten) but the amount of bad GuideML I've seen...do the writers not notice the fact that their links and paragraphs don't work??!!
It's tempting to reject them just to see how much they care about their pages...oooh, I'm getting all sadistic now *^_^*

Whew! I'm not the only one who's felt like rejecting with the comment 'The GuideML was horrid and was almost unfixable' (although I didn't).

I hope I haven't done that!!!
I try to check out mine before I submit. Grammer may be horrible, but the links and such I try to insure are correct!

Of course, there's always misused GuideML. (Making a table to convey info that should be in paragraphs??!! Eh?) Yes, what looks good to some confuses others.

Hiya
There's a handy guide to GuideML in approved entries that more people should know about @ http://www.h2g2.com/A264520 . More people should read it before hitting the "Submit" button.

Something I want to know...
How do you align normal text? I know how to do it for pullquotes and pictures, but am uncetain for normal writing.
Text alignment
Bruce Posted Apr 7, 2000
Hi
The easiest way to align text is using the tag.
...
The value can be one of these:
LEFT aligns the paragraph flush left (the default).
CENTER centers the paragraph.
RIGHT aligns the paragraph flush right.
You can also use the tag
(section of a document)
The DIV tag encloses a block of content. The DIV tag is useful for applying alignment and style characteristics to a section of a document that contains multiple elements rather than having to apply the alignment and styles to each element in the block. Each DIV element starts on a new line.
Syntax
...
Use them as for the tag
You should note that these are not GuideML tags but HTML - currently they will work at h2g2 on pages set to HTML or GuideML - but there is not guarantee that they will work in the future - h2g2 has said that GuideML will be supported in the future but have also said that HTML will be limited to some (unknown) extent in the future.
