What can I do about all these blank lines between the sentences?

Have you hit return twice when typing? You should only need to do it once.

I don't think I did.
They seem to vanish if I switch to something other than pliny.

Then I wouldn't worry too much about it at the moment 
I'm redoing a hefty amount of stuff behind the scenes around that side of things, so it'll get sorted out.

I actually had to google to find out which key you mean - once I found out Return = Enter it was clear again (+I had already guessed anyway) but still

Yeah, sorry, I learned to type on an old fashioned manual typewriter, it's *still* the carriage return key to me

We had to buy typewriters for school, but these were electric.

My second one was electric, I've still got it somewhere.
Kinda shocked the teachers at school when they got a computer (old BBC Micro) and I could already touch-type
