I had a good time as well. I'm sorry that I haven't got much stamina for that kind of environment, but I'm getting better - I was an hour at the comic con mini meet last year, and I was 3 hours in Kro, but I was sorry not to be able to spend more time with different people. Great to put faces to names, though smiley - biggrin I didn't realise pretty much everyone was going on the walk, but Pastey and I held the fort, anyway, which was grand! smiley - cheerssmiley - biggrinsmiley - oj

Secretly Not Here Any More

I think everyone had a good time. Except for that ten minutes when I was trying to get Baron Grim to explain baseball.

Great thanks to everybody and especially Pastey! It was a very well spent time and it was good to make new friends and meet old ones again.
I am looking forward to my next hootoo meet. (In France, perhaps? Or the Nordic meet in the Netherlands?)

Ooh, yes, Netherlands! I haven't been there in ages, and I think only for a few hours in Amsterdam between flights!

Been thinking of a Paris one, or maybe Het Kasteel in Rotterdam, if Shazz and Towel Master are still running it.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Mr603- but that conversation was fasinating! (I was sitting nearby....) smiley - zen

I think I'm still on a sugar rush from the Fredos. Including the extra one which someone passed to DQ and thence on to me; which I had with my coffee this morning smiley - laughsmiley - choc

There's some damn fine tea, coffee, orange juice, and ginger beer in Mancehster..... who'd have thunk it smiley - alienfrownsmiley - zen Felt strange being sober... but not as strange as being able to recall actually meeting people at the meet smiley - snork

The Walk Saturday was great; was talking to a guy on the trian, on teh way home who lived in castlefield area (err, think that's what its called), too, and seemed I knew more than he about its history, from just that walk smiley - laughsmiley - weirdsmiley - zen

Sorry I didn't get to talk to everyone, there, as much as I'd have liked... and felt a bit odd leaving some of the evenings/afternoons before everyone else had smiley - laugh the Font was great.... but I was getting so hyper on the Fredos and I think overdosing on vit C from the smiley - oj at that point smiley - blushsmiley - zensmiley - magic

Superfrenchie

It was indeed a very good weekend. smiley - biggrin
Really enjoyed seeing you all.
The walk on Saturday was interesting without being boring, as was today's postpostmeet walk.
The food was good, the drinks were good, the company was good. What more could there possibly be?
smiley - cheers Looking forward to the next one.

smiley - ta everybody, but of course Pastey in particular smiley - ok
After dieting* for 3 weeks it was nice to have a pint in comraderish company smiley - ok
(Okay, make that a couple. Or a few. Heck make that 42, who am I kidding?)
I think it's awesome that you managed to attend a meet without having spirits, smiley - dragonQueen and 2legs! You have set new marks for both meets, sobriety, chronology and strangenessity smiley - applause

It started to pour the moment I had to leave the hotel yesterday, so I was forced to seek shelter in The Font. But once I was on the train the weather cleared up of course. Maybe that's the reason for my plane leaving Manchester late? Of course my train from Copenhagen Airport to my hometown was also late. And moved to another platform. And delayed on the way because of w*rk on the railroad...
But in spite of traveling back for 13 hours I don't regret one second that I went to this meet so smiley - ta again smiley - ok

*I never go on the waggon because that (and drinking in secret) is a sure sign of alcoholism and I really really don't want to become an alcoholic smiley - cheers

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

smiley - zen "sobriety, chronology and strangenessity
" One trys to do what one can smiley - zen I didn't even drink any beer... let alone spirits smiley - laugh actually... don't think I've drunk any spirits or wine for... four or five years spirits), and longer, for wine smiley - zensmiley - huhsmiley - zen one doesn't need extra, stimuli from alcohol when in such good company smiley - zen though I do fear I'm developing a Fredo addiction smiley - chocsmiley - sillysmiley - boing

My trip back was uneventful, if rediculusly boiling hot due to no windows on the train, and a malfunctioning air con smiley - puff but the time went quick (four hours), as I just sort of sat on the train and closed my eyes and sort of day-dreamed/blissed out, without* falling asleep and risking missing my stops smiley - laughsmiley - zensmiley - towelsmiley - zen That Font bar/pub was great - just sitting round in there, all day, on the Sunday, eating, and overdosing on fredos and drinking tea and coffee etc, was loverly smiley - zen and relazing.... well, cept for the hard wooden bench smiley - laughsmiley - blush that was ... not as soft to sit on as one might have hoped smiley - blush

And after all my deliberations... I ultimately never wore one of the corsets I brought with me, because... and this is so* weird for Manchester, because it was just so damn hot all the time smiley - laughsmiley - puff sun.... in Mancehster.... and barely a drop of rain smiley - huhsmiley - weird

Just on my way home as well
Thanks all for a great meet.

I agree about those benches in font, they are obviously designed to stop us sitting there all day.

smiley - laugh we left the font early* ... circa 7 I think, but we'd been there since 11 Am... so... I'm guessing some* of you lot didn't leave unti lthey threw you out? smiley - laugh yes... those benchs are not sufficient for ... sitting on without additional padding smiley - injuredsmiley - bruisedsmiley - blush ahh... next time we'll all have to bring.... like those little neeling mats you get in church's but, sort of for sitting on instead smiley - laugh actually... being called 'the font' it oughta have them... taht'd be rather cool.... hanging on the back of the bench, like they hang on the back of the pue in front, when one's in church smiley - zensmiley - laugh leather ones... ba black leather... ahh. actually don't know why I'm using the Church neeling things analagy, really they're just 'kneeling mats' I guess... for.. err anyone who spends a long time kneeling... but, like to sit on smiley - huhsmiley - erm damn I need a fredo fix soon smiley - run

Since I am fairly well padded I didn't have any problems in that department, but I prefer having something to lean on, so I grabbed a chair whenever possible.
As for Kro it was almost yet not entirely unlike a Danish kro (=inn). I had a meal I've certainly never encountered here in Denmark, but the Frikadeller with potatoes, red cabbage and gravy looked quite close to the real thing. Probably should have tried those since you seldom get them in restaurants over here smiley - biggrin

Don't get me wrong though. I loved both places. As I did Porter Street Beer House and The Crown and Kettle.
(A Beer Street Port House might have been a nice addition but I don't think I'd have had a liver for that smiley - biggrin )

I've got bad genetics, in the self-padded-bottom area smiley - blush yet another reason jeans never fit me right smiley - laughsmiley - blush of course... if I'd been drinking mild sedative as per useual smiley - alesmiley - stout they might not have seemed so hard, and likewise... smiley - blushsmiley - snorksmiley - whistlesmiley - angelsmiley - coffeesmiley - teasmiley - oj

I'm getting strange cravings today.... for choc fredos and pinapple juice smiley - laughsmiley - weird I've been corrupted smiley - blush

Thanks for sorting it out .. just happened to have the busiest week of my year in terms of b'days, gigs, plays, purchasing small but annoying bits of equipment otherwise I'd have stayed a lot longer.

See you lot again soon
