h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I have my h2g2 space set as my home page. When I went there today (7th May 2012) my first thought was, "Oh no! What have they done? They've ruined h2g2!" I've spent some time with the new look, though, and it's growing on me. The text is clearer (I'm short-sighted and had to scale up the old site). I like the selection of smileys below the 'body' text entry area. I like the tabs at the top of my page so I can jump straight to messages, conversations or whatever, eliminating the need to scroll down.

The changes came as a bit of a shock but, over all, I think they're great. Well done, whoever is responsible (that's decision makers and implementers).

I assume BR stands for Bug Report - not really appropriate for feedback, but I'll go with it if that's the preferred style.

It looks like this is a new 'skin', Pliny, something I didn't know about. Anyway, I've made it my default skin - I even prefer it to Alabaster!

I've also noticed that the site has gained advertising, but it's so unobtrusive that I can ignore it. So well done on that, too.

Ignore what I said about the advertising. It looks like it was my browser playing up.

The advertising isn't fully functional yet, but we need it. Currently we're running on servers that belong to Noesis, and although this is kind, it can't go on forever as a charity ... And although our volunteer team do miracles, in the long run, it can't really be combined with a full time job for all the things that need to be done. So ads will pay for that, we hope.
