I'd say, mostly true but embellishments, possibly mixed from other true stories having happened elsewhere.
So I guess this should count as "false".

OK, confession time.
Unfortunately I couldn't invent a story to save my life (or maybe I could if it was really that urgent), so it is indeed true.
