A Place called Minglewoods, on York Street in the market(easy to find, if in Ottawa), will serve you up a pint for $9.00(CDN). Unfortunately, it's also one of the worst pints of Guiness to be had in Ottawa too. (they actually TIP the galss at an angle to pour it all in one shot!!!). This place boggles me. As a rule, I will drink in a place that serves Guiness on tap, because a portion of their clientelle is willing to wait 5 min. to have a beer. I also tend to AVOID places with Budweizer on tap, as they tend to have a portion of their clientelle who just "want beer NOW". This Place has both on tap. I think its a place where the "Beer NOW" folks can hangout with their "that's OK, I'll wait" pals...

Oh, for the college bars of my youth... or jsut a few months ago. Truth is, they've got a Murphy's Pub in Champaign , IL that sounds much like this place you speak of. Guinness and many other more interesting brews on tap for ~ $3 a pint, while all the swill beers get along at a reduced fare. A good place with a good jukebox and the best burgers in town, where almost everyone won't feel out of place (even my non-drinking friends would hang out there). Highly recommended by yours truly.

$9.00 for a pint? that's garbage. you can get one for $5.50 at the Royal Oak on Laurier.
