A Conversation for Black Cats

We used to share our house with a black cat called Clever Trevor. He has now passed over the rainbow bridge as the Americans say. However I started to paint pictures of the damn cat and now he is more famous than I am.

Black cats aren't all that terrible. I have one at home that loves me very much! And it has nothing to do with witches...

Being an American, I can honestly say that I have never heard of this rainbow bridge. Unless you're speaking of the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from the Wizard of Oz. Even so, we Americans don't, as a general rule, run around saying stuff like "Welcome to Munchinland!" or "I'm melting!". Hmmm, maybe we should.

The phrase "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore" does show up quite a bit in the movies, however. And frankly, "Rainbow Bridge" sounds like a place one would go in a children's arcade game.

Of course, I don't get out that much.

For what it's worth, my kitties that have died have gone on to Kitty Heaven, where they play with an infinite supply of yummy fun fluff, and can relieve themselves wherever they damn well please.

I was bitten by a black cat once.

My cat, Eloise, is black. The only thing that creeps me out about her is that at night, the only way I can tell if she's around is to look for two round, glowing eyeballs. Just a touch disconcerting, especially when I've just watched the X-Files or something.

I know a cat who just had a litter of all black kittens.Besides, I've always thought black cats brought GOOD luck. Interesting source: an old British rhyme which I am sure no one has ever actually heard (like all popular rhymes.)
'Whenever the cat of the house is black, the lasses of lovers will have no lack.' I'm worried now.

There's a black cat that hangs round my place whom I initially dubbed "The Pathetic Meower" (because he is just that); later I found out his name is Nicholas. That's unfortunate as it's also my late father's name and I'd rather not have been reminded, thanks. Nicholas has antisocial urinary habits and thus has been banned from the house. He belongs at the house on the corner, as do the other two regular loiterers, Christopher (grey & white with Siamese bones) and Sasha (British Blue with tabby in there somewhere). Sasha used to be the Resident Guest Cat until she started acting "like one of the boys" and spraying everywhere.

As a rule I have no objection to black cats, but any cat that doesn't keep its toilet habits outside is Evil, imao (and no, that's not a dyslexic cat's last word).

Wow Gleemonger, where did Sasha come from, I had a lovely tabby cat called Sasha that ran away. Your pathetic meower also sounds like a cat I used to know called Dylan that ran away with another tabby cat of mine called Basil (I think they must have formed a glam rock band - Basil was a real exhibitionist. He had a diamante collar and liked to pose in front of the mirror) In fact most of my cats have run away over time but I would like to stress that this is not because I have mistreated them but only because they got moved around so much due to my nomadic lifestyle that they all probably got confused and forgot where they lived.

Where did she come from, you ask? Ultimately, two cats, I expect. *grin* The three of them actually live two doors down, but it's taking a while to get that thru their dimensionally-challenging feline skulls. Daft kitties. They will continue to be locked out and I have now stopped feeding them, so they should hopefully go home soon (what their owner wants).

All my life we have had nothing but black cats,
by some coincedence I am also a witch, but that has never effected my choice of cat.

Cats are fantastic animals and I love 'em to bits.

I actually dedicated as a Wiccan a year (almost to the day) after my 17-year old black cat died. Coincidence? Yeah, I sure think so. Anyway, my purpose was to ask if anybody had heard of a certain song about black cats that my sister and I used to sing. I think it is a parody of some better-known song, but I have no idea.

Black cats, they never get dirty, the longer you pet them, the blacker they get.
Some day, I think I will bathe them, something keeps telling me, don't do it yet.

This is just another fragment of my childhood, but it'd be nice to know I haven't -completely- lost it and am now spontaneously generating tunes and lyrics.
