h2g2: Ahead of the curve, way ahead
Dmitri Gheorgheni, Post Editor Started conversation Mar 30, 2016
Remind me, people. How long have we had ? Quite a few years, right?
Apparently, the Unicode people have just voted to add this vital smiley to their 'emoji' list, which for some reason is the 'official' one. ()
And they're calling it the 'Colbert emoji' in honour of comedian Stephen Colbert. (A87789190 in case you don't know who he is.) Why is it his emoji? Because Colbert is famous for his facial flexibility. He can raise one eyebrow, just like Leonard Nimoy could.
Colbert had fun with it. Here's his take:

Apparently, they go through a Vogon song-and-dance to introduce emojis over at Unicode. No wonder we beat 'em by miles.
I give you h2g2: always out in front.

I think that was one of my 2011 ones, so it's about time they caught up!
I wonder whether they'll enter the great debate.

Definitely Roger Moore The master of the raised eyebrow.
However, The Unicode People, or even Roger Moore himself will never match this particular smiley
or even the chocolateteapot.
I have spoken.
I like The Unicode People. Not knowing what this really means, or who they really are, because I live in a chocolateteapot world, I am free to imagine that I am speaking to them in ancient, yet futuristic languages, whilst sharing pizza in a pizza place with flickering lights and peculiar windows. As one does. Unless one doesn't.

heheh. Hullo Prof! I haven't sent you a kiss smiley for ages.
The Prof smiley! Of course. The Unicode People can't match the Prof smiley.
We need the sew on badge, indeed.
Can I have a sew on chocolate teapot also?
This could be the new h2g2 venture, sew on smileys. I would wear them all on the sleeves of my anorak. heheh. You think I'm kidding? Oh, you don't.

I think smileys/emoticons/emoji are the greatest things to come along since punctuation marks, more sobtle, more fine shades of meaning.

It's about time we rewrote the great works of fiction using smileys in place of punctuation.

I knew him, Horatio.
A fellow of infinite

I beg to differ. They are the greatest thing since Victor Borge invented phonetic punctuation

Funny you should ask, Mala - and frustrating too. Because only a few days I was thinking of one, but now I can't for the life os me remember it
If it ever returns to either halves of my brain cell I'll let you know
