Today's Film Tip: A87863755 - Billy Jack

A Vietnam vet kicks people, and a lot of tedious talking takes place. But the music is a song for the ages.

Some Scots humour. Try to enjoy this movie, not as a political statement, but as a student buddy film. smiley - winkeye What a holiday lark: steal a 300-lb rock from a popular museum/national site in the middle of London, and get it back across the border. And you've got a couple of junk cars and 50 pounds for petrol and chips...

Today's Film Tip: A87863962 - Hemp for Victory

A government-issued film on growing and harvesting a valuable plant, plus a short subject in which some very conservative singers surprise you with a cheerful song.

Lawrence Welk *shudder* 'Twas the only part that sucked about going to my grandparents' for the weekend. Hee Haw came on right after, and was watchable, though they kept interrupting the fun silly bits with country songs (obviously, I didn't get that the songs were the pointsmiley - tongueout)

smiley - rofl 'Hee Haw' made us proud of the fact that our 'ethnic group' (hillbillies) finally got some air time on its own terms. Why, they used to change the time of evening church services, just so everybody could get home and watch 'Hee Haw'.

It's kind of like being Scots, you Brits...you know that line in 'Trainspotting' where the guy says, 'The English are just w***ers. But we were COLONISED by w***ers.'...

These were the truly revealing songs:

Last Film Tip: A87864033 - The Final Frontier

William Shatner intones 'Rocket Man', then narrates a NASA masterpiece. Find out more than you thought there was to know about the Space Shuttle, and marvel and what planet Earth's people have accomplished.

Thanks for reading, everybody, and remember that the archive will stay there, for when you get bored and want a freebie film night.

I find William Shatner's "Rocket Man" to be almost yet not entirely as beautiful as an airport

Thank you, Dmitri, you are too kind.

I must hasten to add that Shatner does up for his "singing" very well in the Nasa documentary, which was good to see. If the space shuttle program does not impress you nothing will. I shall remember Bob Cabana's words "Change is inevitable". One might say the same goes for evolution.

Thank you for 30 days of entertaining smiley - ok
