A Conversation for The Bull Outhouse
Questions
mike... Started conversation Apr 9, 2005
I looked at some of the help info but it's just too much and my head started to hurt. Is a conversation the same as a thread? Was your initial bit a guide entry and does just one (or more) conversations hang off it? How does one navigate? Is there the equivalent of the mayo screen with a list of threads? Oh dear, so many questions ...

Mike, here goes...
A thread and a conversation are the same thing.
The initial bit is a Guide Entry.
You can hang as many conversations off a Guide Entry as you like.
There's no central list of threads but each Guide Entry has its own list hanging off the bottom of it.
And there are far too many smileys around here. Look - there goes one now!

Hi
Have sometimes posted in The Bull and now will also sometimes post here too. (Spelling of course will be completely random).
I have just found the smileys page to show sucess and bookmarked it to find them lurking at the bottom of the edit box. Bug*er.
Well off to drink a few to celebrate getting here. Above all Archers fans it not that different to the other style of posting (well not too me I'm carp at that too).

Thanks, Peet. Is there some button or software tool that you can use to zap the smileys or just make them wither away and die?

Sorry, Mike, not in h2g2...
But we may have the option of a smiley-free skin when Mustardland relaunches...

Hi peet, groping my way in, shamed by your unflagging enthusiasm.
Where do you get hold of the guide entries then?
Strictly smiley free zone

Hokay, Martine...
Assuming you're still on the default Brunel skin, and are asking how to create them, you go to your Space, scroll down and click on the "Create new entry" link just above the bar saying "ABOUT ME".
If you just want to read some existing entries, <./>RandomEditedEntry</.> would be a good place to start. Click the link, then after you finish reading the entry just refresh your page (hit F5) and a new entry will appear...

Hi Mike. I've been in here a couple of days now and I have to say that despite the valient efforts on someone called Feisor, and indeed Peet, it is still pretty much as clear as mud. Added to this Lily is now having to navigate her way to discussing the comparitive merits of Dick or Dom, and 'will it hurt when I have my verucca zapped' via this set up and she needs me to help. The words 'blind', 'leading' and 'blind' have sprung to mind.
We shall just have to see how it all pans out. Dx

Head over here:

Whoever you are, assume you're in the right place - glad you could make it!

Hi Peet,
Your knowledge is all-compassing so please can you tell me why, when I hit F5 I get "This page is under construction"? All this technology is very baffling.

Hey, a-m...
I'm slightly puzzled. Where are you (i.e. what's on your screen) when you hit F5? In theory it just reloads the page you're looking at; if it's doing something else I'd be worried that your browser has somehow been "Hijacked" by spyware.
But don't panic just yet; I've been known to be (very) wrong.
