My first guitar was an Encore Strat copy (from Argos!) and even then I could tell it wasn't much cop... nowadays I'm a dedicated Jackson player.

I play a left-handed Encore Strat copy, and it isn't too bad. Needed a replacement pickup, but basically okay.
As for Jacksons... Well, at least it's not a Charvette!

Never played a Jackson.... had a nice little twelve string electric guitar on loan a few months back, that was quite nice.... Until I was told how much he was getting when he sold it I don't think any* electric guitar should be worth that* much

My vote for the worst guitars:
MARLIN
Misbegotten lumps of plywood! I fondly remember the summer afternoons long ago spent in Roymondo's shed, trying to set fire to the damned things...
No dice - even lighter fluid has standards!

The Loner was what I had!! The southpaw version, Candy Apple Red! Looked really good, sounded realy bad, and yeah, the Floyd Rose III was awful.

My first bass was a Guild and eventually graduated to a six string bass, the John Patitucci custom made by Yamaha. It is tuned B,E,A,D,G,C. Quite the instrument. Its higher srtings are very sweet much like a cello. I took a year's lessons with John at the Bass Collective in lower Manhattan and learned a few tricks about streatching out. We had alot of fun playing old Motown together and it was something else to play with this master.
Yes, there are some very crapy basses out there, just play a fine bass then compare it to a budget model. Its all in the sound and workmanship. One is better off plunking down some serious coin for a good instrument rather than suffer the torment of a nasty instrument.

I knew a guy once who had a six-string bass... he showed us pictures of his band performing. Everyone else looked kinda cool in a floopy-haired angst kinda way... he looked like he had a scaffolding plank strapped to his chest.

I have a nice "Gibson copy" hand made out of wenge wood and maple, really nice sustain with a couple of "dirty fingers" and it sound sooooooo sweet when plugged into the Vox125 a Marshal box, I like the warm glow from the valves, when you Karrang @ vol 12.5........ and your playing John Lee Hooker's "Bottle up and Gooooo" or something from the Stones
I like the deafness of "repetive rift syndrome" also the name of my band
PooooMMMmmmmmmmzzzzzzzaaaaaah

Not into guitars myself but about 8 yrs ago an english friend asked me the price of a certain guitar his son wanted over here, turned out to be about a third of the english price so I bought it and a japanese friend who was going to england carried it threw heathrow customs in an old guitar case, another friend was waiting at the exit of customs to collect it .Turned out well and saved the kid a couple of thousand pounds .
reckon it must have been a yamaha only thing I remember it was white .
