I've got an electric bass!
Primeval Mudd (formerly Roymondo) Started conversation Oct 31, 2006
Bought it this afternoon, £139.00, and it's fab. As good as the Aria Integra that cost £300.00 secondhand 10 years ago.
Is it possible to buy a rubbish electric guitar these days?
Ooh, bass lines are fun.
Groove is in the heart

If it's made by Encore or Stagg, the answer is as resounding 'yes'.

I seem to have been playing my electric bass more than any of the electrics acoustics or classicals in the house the past month or so Which make is it? was it new or second hand? I like my Honer bass, though I need to get lodgers audio tech electricition engineer bloke to sort out the funny noise from the electrics (I plan on having it completely rewried and alterning how the controls work for the two pickups ) Should we be expecting more tunes coming our way soon inclidng electric bass by any chance? Hmmm.... I've not bought a new guitar in yonks... and its my birthday soon

The question should be, is there anyway you buy a crepe acoustic for a beginner? 40 years old, still trying to learn...

I thought even Encore made decent guitars, but I could be wrong. My Washburn electric guitar cost the grand total of £99.00 and is a lovely little lump.
The bass is from The Bass Cellar, an own brand on Denmark Street. I'd forgotten how much fun it is!

There are plenty of cheap acoustics about. Even Argos sell the bleedin' things (if you can face the be-traccied chav-mothers).
From Out of Nowhere. What a great bassline to play.

Mind, you say that about Encore; quite a few years ago.... well bout 15 I think, I had one guitarist friend with a Encore strat, and another with a grands worth of vintage Fender strat.... And the vintage 60's thing sounded an awful lot less good than the cheapo encore new one mind... my lodgers 60's/70's fender strat is pretty nifty, Mind... still prefer my crapy yamaha electric for playability and its tonal range and dynamics But... then again... if I want that* sound... I pick up the strat

The shop I was in today had quite a large selection of cheap telecasters. I know they're not your bag Leggsie but I love 'em and might have to acquire one...

I've a Fender telecaster sitting on the wall just behind where I'm sitting! : lodgers of course... but in some ways I'm not bothering bluying any guitars that are already covered by what the lodger has considering looking for a new acoustic steel strung though... the yamaha acoustic is alright... but sometimes It just doesn't do the sounds I want actually I'm considering buying a VST plugin that I've had the demo version of for a while

Probably not! It's just the people that play them!
Definition of Perfect Pitch?
Getting the Bass in the bin without hitting the edge.
Ok, that joke was aimed at Drummers, but it still fits.
That is why there are only four strings on a Bass Guitar... Keep things simple
Now, Roymondo... How do those four chords go?
Maybe the HooToo Band could be formed after all?
Nah! Stoopid boy!

Pah! These bleedin' folkies! Oddly, it's harder to play mediocre bass than mediocre lead (or so I've found). Playing either well is a different kettle drum.

I actually got a compliment on my playing ability from the lodger as regards my efforts on the bass mind... he's such a blazing country, blues, rock, jazz, classical, spanish player with all the effort he puts in to actually practising properly and such like ... b***** Will have to come over to London some time and check out some of the guitar shops that way

Indeedy. So, bondage and guitar shops. Quite a day!
I've nearly got a blister on my left index finger already! Keeps scraping on the G string. Ouch.

My fingers are fine on the Bass, in terms of the tips not hurting, though its helping build up the muscles in my fingers no end... I've got to teh stage where I can just about play it as fast as I lead on the electric six string, and I'm nearly there with hammering as easily, though I find that tricky on the E string on the bass esp trying to do four finger tapping I must get on with my recording soon, get some of these many many stongs I've started finsihed; every time I get in the mood to do it, I've something else on that has to take president over the recording... I'd have finished a song this evneing was it not for the meal and ale tongiht

Try a five stringed electric fiddle...
At least you don't have to play a guitar shoved under your neck!
Or mess around with horsehair!
Anyway, what is wrong with Folkies?
Fairport? Sandy Denning? Pentangle? Tull?
Ohhhh! I need to lie down...

I've got some Pentangle from a 70s BBC thing on video somewhere. It's very good. Danny Thompson absolutely kicks bottie.
I'd slap some Tim Buckley on (the closest I get to folk) but am a bit tied up with the bass at the moment.
