The earliest suggested date is 16th April. The following two weekends are no options (Easter, Wedding), so I guess the next possible dates would be 07th, 14th, and maybe 21st May.

I'll start the voting threads for the relevant dates tomorrow morning. There's a kind of tradition of a meet around the h2g2 birthday of 28th April if possible, or at least one that is called a birthday meet. My very first was May 2000! A325018

Yes, I think I might have heard something about that. But there's no reason why the meet (whenever it is) can't be a celebration of h2g2's 12th birthday. Even in 2000 it was a few weeks later than the actual date.

I'm not sure I can come at all, but any time in April is impossible. The earliest Saturday I could make it is May 14 and May 21 would be even better. But please, set it to accomodate those of you who are sure you can attend. I'll be with you in spirit.

I'll set up voting threads tomorrrow, so add your support to the date you prefer! You have to be in it to win it, as they say.

What shall we say how long voting will be open? The shorter the better for those who have make travel/accommodation arrangements.

Yes, I usually give the voting threads a specific time limit of a couple of weeks, 3 at most, to allow for that. I'll sort it out in the morning.

Yes, if you could set up the voting threads that would be grand
As ever I know not of things that are yet to be (A royal wedding? easter? err I avoid contempory things such as these and know not of them nor when they occur)
Also, if anyone knows of any other meets (hull?) that are already planned, so we can avoid having a clash it'd be good, I've not seen anything about other meets at the current time, but I was kinda abscent for a while december and early Jan due to the Christmas drinking season
Once the voting threads are up tommorrow, I'll update the main meet page to reflect this, and then I think I'll drop a note to the post, and put a thread or two on ask/misc chat and ... I dunno where ought I advertise nowdays? Oh, and I'll put a conversation thread onto the page about upcoming community events... even though its not being updated, people may be subscribed to the page
hmmm... actually I wonder if I could persuade the powers that be to give 'ownership' of that page over to an active researcher so It can start being updated again... I may try drop a note to the eds but err I've no idea who they are anymore

i shall try to be there on the day that gets the most votes, of course, being the fundamentalistic democrat that i am, but here's a thought: why not have more than one meet?
it is probably not possible for me to go to london later than april 16th, but if others are in the same situation (or want to attend more than one meet) i can't see any reason why we shouldn't have a "minority mini meet" that day even if it doesn't get the most votes. you?
call me a splitter but think about it. i may get back to you on this after the voting is closed
and now i bid you good night, bob rest your souls

Voting threads all done for the 16th April and the 7th, 14th and 21st May. For once, the system didn't think I was trying to spam! Usually several of the threads disappear, never to be seen again and I have to keep trying.
I'll do the count on the 4th February, which gives 3 weeks of voting and 10 weeks at the very least, as notice to book travel etc.

There's now all the more reason for an h2g2 12th birthday meet. If you haven't already signed up, go here: A79731967 then vote for a date.
