Hitch Hikers on DVD
Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.) Posted Feb 5, 2002
So does anyone know how to find the extra hidden bonus bits?

Munchkin Posted Feb 5, 2002
So are the extra bits worth it, as I have the videos already?

I found this elsewhere, but I can't verify it:
"If you happen to own the DVD edition of 'The hitchhikers guide to the
galaxy' You can access the hidden features as follows :
On disc 1
Wait for the menu screen to load, move down to the last option and press
the left arrow key.
You will then come to a code entry screen..... The code is : 1146 which
every h2g2 fan will know was the time that the earth was destroyed by the
vogons.
The easter egg is a 45second pre-title sequence which was dropped from the
original tv shows."
Filming the TV series didn't look much fun - in the out-takes it seems as though everyone was having a thoroughly rotten time.

The subtitle track with the production notes in it is excellent...

Disc 1 Easter egg:
Yes DoctorGonzo, this does do something but it's not the theme!
The theme is on disc 2.
If you don't want to know how to get to it look away now...
Disc 2:
I think there are 2 ways to get to this, the way I read was to highlight Communicate and hold down the left key, then the Earth appears and you click on that!
This morning I watched the making of... Followed by Don't panic, when I finished, the Earth was already there (and clickable!).

HHGTG DVD: DNA audio interview?
Dickon Posted Apr 29, 2002
I noticed that many of the listings on websites such as Blackstar for the HHGTG DVD (the R2 UK version) lists the extras as including "an audio only interview with Douglas Adams". But I can't find it on the discs, and it's not listed on the DVD box either. Can anyone confirm whether this extra is meant to be on it or not?

Jonny Posted May 5, 2002
I'm not sure, I think I heard there's another Easter egg involving turning off subtitles then turning it on again (or maybe the other way round), then clicking Don't Panic. I've never managed to make it work though.
It seems on the R1 version according to Amazon.com that they got the Omnibus Documentary too! (actually thinking about it that means h2g2 gets a very brief mention)
