You can call me TC

I knew that about the Isle of Man etc - we have to print customs documents if sending deliveries there.

In answer to the OP - on my passport it says "European Union - United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland". Does that mean we'll all need new passports if we do leave the EU? While I'm not to keen on the idea, it would be smiley - cool to have those lovely black ones back...

Gnomon - time to move on

They always check passports going from UK to Europe, (since UK is not part of the Schwengen agreement), so it should be easy enough for the passport checkers to just ignore the "EU" on the UK passports. I'd say that you could continue to use the same passport, but that the next time you get a new one, it would be a different colour.

Border officials would probably also start stamping your passport again when you cross from the UK into Europe.

What would happen at the Northern Ireland / Republic of Ireland border is anybody's guess.

paulh, vaccinated against the Omigod Variant

I would wait to see how the voting goes. If nothing changes, you won' have to worry about new passports. smiley - smiley

Sho - employed again!

we've pretty much decided that Chez Sho we'll wait until our British passports expire then see where everything is with EU and non-EU.

At that time (it's only 4 years for me) I may decide to go fully native and get a German one. We realised recently that smiley - chef and the Gruesome Twosome could probably apply for Irish passports. But I'm guessing that if they change the Gruesomes, at least, will go for German too.
