Will You Be Returning to Middle Earth?

BTW it's feasible given Tolkein's origins of the dwarves that they might be highly resistant to heat. I might be stretching it a bit but they were created by the Vala Aule to be creatures of the mountains, smelting metal and jewels.
Even if that's stretching it, have you ever watched that Tommy Lee Jones film Volcano? I'm fairly sure he had a tender love moment with the female lead about 3 feet away from a stream of molten lava I think The Hobbit is positively realistic in comparison

I'm not sure Volcano is a completely realistic depiction of what lava can do ...

Sorry got muddled there, deleted what I'd written and ended up pretty well with what you'd written!
I quite like the idea of heat-resistant dwarves. Although they did burn up quite quickly faced with Smaug.
I'm pretty sure Frodo and Sam should, by rights, have ended up incinerated at Mount Doom. So perhaps Middle Earth lava is different somehow.

I hope the citizens of Lakeville don't make ashes of themselves.

Ah but dragonfire is the only thing known to be able to consume a ring of power outside mount doom - that's *different*
Good point about Frodo and Sam though
Key: Complain about this post
