But firstly, a rant.

origiannly the theme was singers, and me'n'him were going as Pit Bull and Christina Aqueduct. I had the blonde wig, and bough false eyelashes, crystal stick on eye jewels and false nails.

Then the theme was changed to Film and TV. So I thought I'd go for Liza/ Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Just needed a bowler hat, and while browsing the lcoal fancy dress shop's website I saw that they had a Daphne-from-Scooby_doo outfit - I recognised it as one my cousin had, asked her if I could borrow it and she said yes! Woohoo! This was more than a week ago.

We were to meet for lunch last Thursday so she could hand it over - I had to cancel, and we re-scheduled for Tuesday. She forgot, and we rescheduled for today. The party is tomorrow night.

Her facebook status last night indicated that she can't find the ginger wig part of the costume.

Now, whilst I'm miffed that she didnt check all the bits were there as soon as she'd offered to lend it, my options are now:

1. Still go as Daphne but find a ginger wig.
2. Go back to the Liza plan and find a bowler hat.
3. Something else - might go to the fancy dress shop and see what they have on special offer.

Any other suggestions?

Dye your hair ginger

Actually, my hair IS dyed ginger......but it's very short.

I think the main question here is: is it easier to find a wig or a hat?

I was gunna suggest that but I bit my tongue...

You could sit upstairs in the east Belfast house with the window open and a fishing rod, and wait for a bowler to pass!

Hi Beatrice, most of our fancy dress sorties involve lots of leather, vamp teeth and pointy weapons. Underworld, Blade,Terminator
( although NEVER make yourself a fake sawn off shotgun out of copper pipe and MDF and then forget theyre in the boot of the family car!) suppose theere are loads of pop/rock folk too that lend themselves to the biker look..

OK, I have the pink dress, and the pink PVC boot legging things (given the temperatures, I may not wear these for long!)

Blonde wig - possible, if I'm going for the Sarah-Michelle Gellar interpretation of Daphne. But again, in this heat, I may ditch the wig after a while. Or just go with my own ginger hair and be Daphne-after-a-haircut.

I have a bright pink hair bow, green and pink shoes (no really), and some gaudy pink and green jewellry. And a lime green handbag. If I can find a magnifying glass, and just wander round the party going "Scooby-Doo, where ARE you?" I think I might just get away with it...
