Reading your posts, it came to mind that I've heard a rather interesting/no, good/no, odd maybe, something, about octal (base 8 arithmetic) but no way can I recall it.
However, I did read something... it says here that
The Yuki language in California and the Pamean languages in Mexico have octal systems because the speakers count using the spaces between their fingers rather than the fingers themselves.
Funny ol' world eh?

Heisenberg is driving along the road when he is flashed by a policeman. He pulls over.
Policeman: Do you have any idea how fast you were driving, sir?
Heisenberg: I know exactly how fast I was going. On the other hand, I have no idea where I am.

The Yuki would do good in Politics, counting what they do not have.

I guess that is why I usually know where I am.

Base 12 is quite handy for weights and measures, but I never understood why pounds and stone are measured in base 14.

OK then.
Chaos, in my day, was all supposition about a gent called Taff.
Nowadays there are books - nay, tomes - written but clarification there still is none.

To re-iterate toybox's QoTD from 17th December last year:
There are 10 kind of people in this world:
those who understand and like binary jokes, those who understand and don't like binary jokes, those who don't understand binary jokes, those who don't care about binary jokes, those who like telling "there are x kind of people" jokes, those who never remember these jokes, those who don't tell such jokes because all they know are Monty Python quotes, those who link to http://xkcd.com/953/ when they see a binary joke, those who slip a "there are two kind of people" quote from "the good, the bad and the ugly", and those who take "there are 10 kind of people" seriously.

Two chemists are sitting at a bar. One, thinking himself cool, orders his water by saying:
"I'll have some H2O."
The other one, trying to join the joke, adds:
"I'll take some H2O, too."
The barman, having studied chemistry as well, gives them each what they have ordered and watches the second chemist die.
Get it?
Y.
