thank you, Galaxy Babe! mmm cake and champagne mmm
i just finished watching the movie 'In Time' about humanity who stop aging at 25
and have one year to live but they can earn more time...
they have clocks on their arms
when asked how old they are in real time
they say 25 for 2 ...meaning 25 years for two years... meaning they have lived 2 years past their 25
in response to your 57 going on 90...
3 years ago i got very very sick
and turned 90 in 3 months time
lost 50 lbs
but i am much better now and back to my 67 real time years
but it was an eye opener lemme tell ya
I am 37 for 30
fluffykerfuffle Posted Sep 16, 2012
err actually they mean "i have been 25 for 2 years" don't they!

Fluffykerfuffle, I hope the will keep you healthy for a long time to come.
I was quite sick last October and November with pneumonia and a blood clot in my left calf. Both conditions are behind me now.
Sickness happens. My father was in the hospital a couple weeks ago with an intestinal blockage. He hated being in a hospital bed. I told him there was a time for getting some rest, and that was the time. He was worried that if he was inactive, he'd never get back to his normal, active life. Well, he's back to it now. He's 92. I don't see how I can live anywhere near as long as that, but it's not my call.

So, I saw the subject line and thought, end of cricket season bowling figures presumably ...
Hey ho. Happy birthday.
I'm not sure how old I am ...

Happy B ' day Fluffy
I like the 25 for 2 thing....I decided to stay at the age of 52 some years back as I didn't want to get any older
and at this moment I'm glad I'm not very good at maths, else I would be tempted to re new my age
Have a lovely day

Congratulations and Happy Birthday!!
I'm interested as to why you chose 37 to stop at, fk.
It could have been 27 for 40 or any odd number. I can see why, but I wondered what your personal reasons were.
(I'm the same age as GB)

Well I like to go by my Wii Fit age.
So one day I can be 22 again, the next a wise old 67, and then back to 39 the next day. It's fun.

When I was 22, I routinely took stairs two at a time, up or down. If I pretended I was still 22, I would get into serious trouble if I tried to do that.
When I was 22, I could climb ropes. Haven't been able to do that in a long time.
Age may be a state of mind in some ways, but when you get physical, the illusion has to give way to something more realistic. Trust me, there is no way I could get to the Olympics as a competitor now that I'm 64.

I was gutted when I turned 38, for one reason only. I was no longer able to accurately say "I'm 37! I'm not OLD!"

I remember being 36 and being most perturbed, as I realised that I remembered my mother being 36....and also on this same memorable day...
my hands looked just like my mothers........
wrinkly....
within a few minutes.......
I had aged

Mol - on the new tablet Posted Sep 18, 2012
I'm now the age my mother was when I got engaged. Which means I'm as old as my mother was when I considered myself grown-up. I can also clearly remember my dad being the age I am now.
All of which must surely mean I'm now a wise and all-knowing adult
I think 37 is a bit of a key age, because it's the last year you can claim to be in your mid-thirties - ie, young.

I had a strange few days, two weeks after my fortieth birthday. My uncle (mother's brother) was the nearest I had to a father-figure. He was my mental image of what a grown up man was, my pattern for life in some ways. He was an engineer, for one thing.
Two weeks after my fortieth birthday, I reached an important milestone - I was older than he was when he died. No pattern from there on. Felt odd.
Still does.

why did i choose 37, TC?
it just felt right...
when i was 'in my prime' in a way
had returned to college and was doing well
was very fit physically
weighed, by the way, 137 lbs
which is my perfect weight
and it was the last year of my bliss...
my naivete
during that year i did almost everything well
except for one thing
leaving my kids to do that college thing
so 37 was the last year of my peak
when i came home they moved back in
but
the damage had been done and i will always regret it
anyway
37 was a very good year
and what i shoot for in my endeavors to engage with the world

I thought the point of this thread was that you were 37 years old, but felt seven years younger than that. Have I misunderstood your point all the way through this thread, Fluffykerfuffle?

fluffykerfuffle Posted Sep 19, 2012
not exactly, paulh
sometimes i have trouble composing clear sentences
which may be what happened in post 3
i saw that movie "In Time" where the characters count time after their 25th birthday as a number beyond 25
so to say i am 37 for 30 means that i have been 37 for 30 years (67)
i think jack benny was 39 for way more than 30 years?! <biggrin)
i just think it is a fun way to talk about how old we feel
or what our favorite age is

On my 37th birthday, they played "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" on the radio. (They couldn't have known). But it depressed me no end.

I certainly don't want to be my Wii Sports age or something that sounds like a cricket score
We had a non birthday party recently & quite a few people wondered if it was for a special age birthday. I felt a bit unhappy that they thought I might be older than I am.
