Oooh, I've got a couple of good really lame ones.
Charlton Heston was the godfather of my first-cousin-once-removed's ex-husband. Bought them a Cadillac for a wedding pressie.
Father Dougal (out of Fr Ted) is the son of my granny's sisters' doctor.

BTW, Mal - there must be a great "Rabbi's Cat" style comic that could be made about the dog who was born in the palace of the Sultan of Oman!

It does lead to a whole host to questions, doesn't it? Like: how do you know it was born there? Was the mother a guest, a resident or a palace-crasher? How did it get from Oman to Mala's aunt?
I feels like there's a long and complex story here, and we've only been given the last sentence.

The mother belonged to a stable hand in the royal stables. And my aunt was working for the Sultan as a librarian at the time.

Isn't your granny's sister your great-aunt? Sounds better your way, though, KB.
My youngest son started school at the same school and on the same day as Hans-Peter Briegel's son. H-P B being a German national footballer who lived in our village at the time.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted May 28, 2012
I remember the first episode of Basil Brush with "Mr Derek", and he made fun of Derek's name. According to his dictionary, a derrick was a type of crane, and a crane was a long-legged bird, so Mr Derek must be a long-legged bird! h-h-h-haaaaaa-haaaaaa! boom boom!

Ooh, got another one.
At school my mother was in the year below the guy who played the strong man in 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum" - Stuart something his name was iirc.
