I remember that series. Billy Crystal played a gay character.

Apparently that's specifically against House Rules.

Odd. You need three h's in the tag, but there's only two in the smiley.

I seem to recall that there was a spin-off series called Benson about the butler.

Sudden memory. We had* a friend in the Highlands whose family background was...complicated. Whenever he described his siblings' parentage and who wasn't talking to who we'd break into the theme tune. smiley - musicalnote Bah bah-bah-bah-bah...smiley - musicalnote

I enjoyed that show. It had Rene Auberjonois, Robert Gillaume, and Inga Swenson. Quite a lot of stage actors who migrated to television. Auberjonois was in "Big River," Swenson was in "110 in the Shade," and the actor who played the governor had played Witherspoon in "1776."

I was a huge fan of this show at the time, but have since lost a lot of weight, and am now a svelte fan.
My particular favourite characters were Chuck, the mild mannered, polite son, and Bob, his acid tongued 'friend'.
Bob has been inducted into the Smithsonian institute's 'cult pop culture icon's'.
Chuck wasn't.
