Just thinking that we need a counterpoint to the Advertising Stupidity thread - F19585?thread=655907 - for adverts with wit and humour, and which stick in the head for the right reasons.
At the moment I quite like the current Colman's Season+Shake advert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NopeeBmjwEo
Whoever is voicing the Colman's bull appears to be doing an impression of Boris Johnson, and it works brilliantly.
Any others the community like at the mo?

Ah, about time! I've meant to start this thread a hundred times and not quite managed it. Bravo!
The Aldi tea ad had gone down very well in our household.
I don't like tea...

That got number one spot on a top adverts type programme I saw bits of on the telly.
Sadly it had passed me by until I saw it on that programme. It is good though.
I used to like the cravendale ads with the animated cow and pirate and stuff - don't know why, they just tickled me. :D

I quite liked when BMW, Audi and Subaru ran billboard campaigns trying to belittle each other. Bentley creamed them - http://creativeadvertisingworld.com/advertising-wars-bmw-audi-subaru-bently/

The one I'm about to mention won't strike you as particularly clever, but I think the one by a certain manufacturer of wood preservatives is.
It has reached the stage where I've met people from other countries, who have never even heard of the product, using the ad slogan - but only after it established them as the most recognisable brand on the home market.
I guess the advertising company they paid to create it did exactly what it said on the tin.

I am in awe of Happy Reg, dancing outside the betting shop after winning on the Irish lotto. Great music, and great robotics

Happy Lisa is a fine mover, and looks genuinely happy

I might, possibly, at some point, have mentioned that I used to work for a chocolate company.
While I worked there, one of the very few things I was less than completely proud of was the quality of the advertising. In particular, how much less memorable and sticky it was compared to the advertising of my childhood for the same products.
The specific example I was fond of using was the following: approach any British person aged 40 or more, and sing the words
"NUTS! Whole hazel nuts - OOH!". And I can guarantee that the next word out of their mouth will be the name of the company. Every time.
Advertising nowadays, is, however, never going to be as penetrative as it was in the 70s, simply because in those days there was just one channel showing adverts, so all the adverts were on that channel.
Most equivalents I'm aware of today succeed in creating brand awareness by sheer annoyance - oh, you buy any car, do you? Any, any, any, any, you buy any car? Not from me you don't, ever, I guarantee it. Go compare? I certainly shall. I shall compare your advertising to banging my head against a wall, and I shall conclude that I prefer headbanging, and never, ever use your service.

A finger of fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat. A finger of fudge is just enough until it's time to eat. It's full of...
There's that company name again.

The reason I put this one up is that Dave Gorman(41years old) and presumbly all of 'his' production team on Absolute radio did not remember what a Humphrey was with regards to milk during a recent episode when they coldn't work out why someone would say 'It's been Humphryed.' when talking about the last bit of milk in a bottle.
It is also a great example of an advert meme.
Also, starring Frank Muir who did the 'Everone's a fruit and nutcase' Cabury ads.

I know the Dulux ads have been put above but the classic Dulux ads were with the Dulux dog and the new one from last year for an anniversary year affected me quite strangely - those adverts of the dog running around and the hobo music must have got me back then as well:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkfS5NY1gSk
And when you go into a Akzo Nobel main building you'll see a Dulux dog 'pottery' cast dog in the foyer...awww.....I do wonder why they haven;t made an even bigger push of the old style ads as they certainly work.

Haven't got time to hunt through Youtube for all the examples but...Guinness...years of adverst that just nailed it everytime and all with different ideas and 'genres' within them.
The Rutger Hauer ones were the ones that seemed to start it and thenit went on.
And then came (pre-David Brent)-
'Durrr duh. d d d d durrrr duh'
Arghhh given myself an earworm for the rest of the day.

Ads that make the brand name memorable are good bets - like the Ariston and on and on ads of a few years ago.
