Why is Word so annoying..

I think part of the problem is that Word tries to convince you that it can do a lot with all those multimedia options in the ribbon, but it's actaully misleading. Remember that annoying caperplip that used to pop up whenever you wrote the word 'Dear'... with its chirpy;

"it looks like you're trying to write a letter! Here's our stunning range of child-like letter templates" ?

Well I want a similar pop-up whenever I try to insert more than 2 pictures or anything else that is not text into Word. It might say something like;

"hey, it looks like you're trying to be a little bit too clever and creative for word, why not try Powerpoint, or better still a program that Micro$oft has never set eyes on ?"

Well it seems that I'm meat to upgrade to Office 2010 by the end of the month. Seems I'm meant to have had an icon on my desktop that does it for me.

Wish me luck.

Sho - employed again!

it's a steep learning curve sometimes

in our company everything is done in PP or Excel. Nobody uses word except me (the office smiley - senior) so if they ever do need to write a proper letter, I'm the go-to-smiley - senior

You know what? Scratch what I said earlier; I've just copied everything into PP smiley - biggrin. I reckon the couple of hours it's taken me is time well invested, because I can now get on with writing the rest of the words without all my images bouncing around all over the place and needing constant fiddling with smiley - cdouble I'll save a bucket load of time in the end, and if I'll check if it's OK to submit in PP when the Easter hols are over.
If they insist on a Word doc, at least it'll all be written and I'll only need a day or so of trying to train Word.. Thanks people for the advicesmiley - ok

Ah it's so smiley - magic using PP. Everything stays in its box!
Yes I've often converted finished Word docs to PDF at the end to 'fix' them. But I was told not to because they need somewhere to stick their comments (and can't presumably fathom how to do it in acrobat). Then I get the marked essay back and all my careful formatting has been shot to hell with their comments smiley - wah Barstewards smiley - cross
